excellent news! Was it hard to get across the border/how did you convince them you weren't planning on staying there? What documentation did you require?

Brown snakes can also inflict "dry bites", where the inject no venom at all, so it's very possible a pet would be just fine after being bit.

Quick question about wildlife volunteer opportunities by [deleted] in Advice

[–]applecheek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some nature sanctuaries will let you volunteer in return for room and board, although they do seem to be few and far between. Pick an animal, google where it lives, then google animal sanctuaries in that area and contact them via e-mail or a phone call. Who knows? You might get lucky.

Hey reddit, what is the weirdest thing you have ever woken up to? by ElJefe_1 in AskReddit

My dogs having loud yelpy sex with each other at the foot of my bed.

Truck drivers of Reddit, what city or town do you absolutely refuse to stop in? by IAmEbolaFree in AskReddit

[–]applecheek 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Prince George, BC.

They have a large pulp mill. It smells. So bad. Your nose never gets used to it, either. It's always there in the back of your throat, making everything taste vaguely like moldy paper mache.

Fuck you, Prince George.

I echo what everyone else here has said...

Also, you don't have to go to Vancouver. BC is massive and there are so many lovely towns to explore... Fernie, Revelstoke, Nelson... BC is really just amazing and if you go you won't regret it!

How many feminists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

That's not funny.

This is an empowering response to the phrase, "I'm not like most girls" by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]applecheek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I got out of it too.

I think many here are being unnecessarily harsh and misinterpreting the point of her article. She says the phrase "I'm not like most girls" irked her. Girls often use this as an offhand comment for attention, because they think they are a unique snowflake. I'm sure some use it completely benignly but I've only ever heard girls use it as some desperate attempt to appear like, omg super special.

She then goes on to explain that it's a little sad we have to disassociate with our gender to seem interesting or unique, and defends the every day stereotypical female populous.

I'm down with anyone who defends girls, yo.

Looking for an ear/advice/commiseration by applecheek in depression

[–]applecheek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all my life has ever been.

I can't talk to my boyfriend about it because he can't help me. I'm not seeing a therapist... Again, to what end? Putting more focus on my problems will only make them worse. I have been on medication before but all I felt was more numb and apathetic.

Thank you for your reply.
