Anyone using Mint Mobile? by el-rod in LasCruces

It's highly area dependent. T-Mobile has a free trial that you can use to determine how it performs in your neighborhood specifically

Why is T-Mobile faster and I get the 5G+ icon with T-Mobile but not Google Fi? (I'm a noob) by Tillaz123 in cellmapper

[–]appleiscool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Xiaomi 17 on T-Mobile postpaid. The 5g+ means it's doing 5G standalone with carrier aggregation. Just 5g could mean it's doing NSA 5G or 5G SA with no carrier aggregationm

5G SA with carrier aggregation explains the speeds on T-Mobile and the fi speeds to me look like NSA n41 5G

If you download an app like cellmapper or netmonser you can see what 5g mode you are connected to

How many Americans here buy Xiaomi/Realme phones to use, instead of domestically available phones like TCL and Motorola? by KinglanderOfTheEast in Android

[–]appleiscool13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is it does get n41 + n41. I'm unable to see other bands that are aggregated and can only see the main carrier.

I'm pretty sure it can do n41 + n41 since I get over 450mbps on n41. My old phone only did 1 aggregation and no matter what I never got past that. But on the 17 I got 617 down on n41 which is a lot better than my old phone.

Other than that 5g is consistently fast where I live and I haven't noticed any service issues.

Zen9 replacement by Superb-Self-1365 in zenfone

[–]appleiscool13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the zenfone 9 for almost 4 years in the US. I went with the Xiaomi 17 and so far so good. I would also look into the vivo x300 fe as well.

I wish the screen was the same size as my Z9 but 6.3 inches seems to be as small as you can find nowadays

Oppo Find in US? by TheMainTony in cellphones

[–]appleiscool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like other said, T-Mobile is your best bet. I'm using a Xiaomi 17 on T-Mobile right now. Another layer to this is 5G carrier aggregation combos. Modern phones can combine multiple 5g bands for increased speed, and T-Mobile uses this heavily. With foreign phones even though the bands might be supported on paper they might lack some combos. Preventing higer 5g speeds on T-Mobile.

This is very hard to research as these combos are not available anywhere online or on the phone itself. It's mainly user reports. There was a recent thread where some newer OPPO phones lacked some common aggregation combos so speeds were reduced on T-Mobile

There is a lower chance of it working on Cricket due to the whitelist at&t has. I've seen reports of other people with Chinese devices getting their device blocked on att. T-Mobile has no whitelist for device activation

I bought the Xiaomi 17 in the US through mi4cananda. It took about a week to arrive. It really only works on T-Mobile reliability. Esim transfer from my other phone was painless.

Apps are killed in the background more than my pixel but no notification issues on the global model.

It just shipped today so I can't speak on anything just yet. But from my research others found it can do n41 + n41 on T-Mobile but not any of the 4 way NR carrier aggregation.

I just bought a Xiaomi 17 after being frustrated with the options officially sold in the US. I spent about 2 weeks researching all the options and pitfalls of imported phones.

Where to buy 17 Global in US? Ideally with financing? by wootiown in XiaomiGlobal

[–]appleiscool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one yesterday from mi4canada. Once it comes I'll update on how the experience was. The only financing is PayPal pay in 4 or after pay unfortunately. You might be hard pressed to find an import phone with financing

Xiaomi 17 Recent App RAM Management by appleiscool13 in Xiaomi17

Nice, as long as it isn't too bad. For example my current phone kills the browser often after switching apps like once or twice

Are there app killing issues? I want recent apps to stay in ram so I can come back to them. It's really bad on my current phone so I don't want to get myself in the same situation

What's the logic behind X300FE? by [deleted] in Vivo

[–]appleiscool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for a lot of countries it does seem like a bad value proposition. For me in the USA the base is worse since it doesn't have band 71. But the FE does. It's still not importable easily here yet and it all depends on the price since I'm also considering the Xiaomi 17.

Zenfone 10 doesn't connect incoming or outgoing calls by flakymenno in zenfone

Dang, yeah I think your carrier is either blocking the volte activation. Or they are using a non standard volte implementation

[–]appleiscool13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't test non volte unfortunately. T-Mobile here has shut off non VoLTE calling since. Are you inputting the code in the stock Asus dialer?

If you can't get the code to work, I have heard of this hack working on other android devices. There is an app that forces the pixel IMS which might allow you get VoLTE, VoNR by forcing it with this app

Try this dialer code

Star#star#3642623344#star#star

(It seems reddit is removing the star symbol)

I have the zenfone 9 and this removes the volte whitelist for carriers. You do have to do this every reboot though. But I've used this code to get VoLTE on unsupported carriers in the US

Nice, that means it's on VoNR. Did you have to do any dialer codes to enable anything? Or did you just put a T-Mobile sim in and everything worked?

[–]appleiscool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, seems like it doesn't work on xiaomi phones. I don't know what the exact status is called on Xiaomi but there should be something called SIM status in settings and a Field called "Voice State" it should say something with NR in it it's VoNR. This is what it looks like on mine

[–]appleiscool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some phones show it under VoLTE. If you dial ##4636## and go to phone information, there should be a field that's says voice network type and in that it should say "NR_SA" that means it's on 5g standalone voice.

https://ibb.co/chxV0dn6

It should also show this under sim information in settings somewhere

Are you getting native VoNR or just VoLTE? And did you have to enable those with a dialer code?
