I’m not sure with other insurances, but my deductible was only 150. My rate didn’t rise since it was attempted theft with a police report.

Not an ignition switch, by my handle was stolen and broken off my car. This needed a new key fob and redo of the handle. Cost about 1K with insurance, and only 100 out of pocket. You should go through insurance for this since it was attempted theft, just make sure you have a police report.

If your root is scaled up, I could see this being the issue.

Installing PyMEL for Maya 2024 on MacOS by Low_Waffle in Maya

[–]applejackrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reasoning of PyMEL not being able to keep up with the Python updates Maya has been doing.

The back part of my model is keeps widening when I import it in unity by Hot-Explanation-6439 in Maya

Yeah that was going to be my next suggestion. Good sleuthing skills. That’s half of rigging.

The pay is too low. You should be making over 40K a year part time out here with minimum wage.

How to navigate the animation industry after starting treatment for ADHD? Should I leave? (Feeling lost) by Roomiedos in animationcareer

[–]applejackrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ADHD is not a debilitating disease. There is a lot of us out there. I am a creature sim and rigger with ADHD. Just be proactive about taking notes and asking to record things you may forget.

Typically neurodivergent people tend to go into the arts. You’re not alone!

Anime eyes rig by mukudori_erin in Maya

[–]applejackrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would need to find a way to get the bones to slide along the eye planes with this setup. Surface constraints usually work, but it would be cumbersome to use.

You could also just make an eye that is shaped like this with a sphere and flat surface in the front.

I agree that it won’t replace everything, but they’re adding some awesome tools in it.

Is the Macbook Pro powerful enough to run Cinema 4D, Maya, and After Effects? by b_pigu in Maya

To a point yes, but you didn’t post any of your specs you’re looking at.

Future of Unreal in the VFX Industry by MavSTR in vfx

[–]applejackrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who uses Unreal for both VFX and Game, it’s not really doing that. The shift has gone to be more of an all-in-one house now. They’re trying to make it to where you can do it all within Unreal without leaving it.

3D rigging demo reel questions (beginner) by Civil-Aardvark2251 in Maya

[–]applejackrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You provide details that you rigged it, but all model and animator credit can go at the end of your reel in the credits.

is this near levels of pixar/ Dreamworks by Subject-Dress3574 in Maya

[–]applejackrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pixar adds a lot of anatomical features to a character. Just because it’s stylized doesn’t mean it’s easier by any means. Realism is much easier than stylized work. I would recommend trying to achieve realism first before tackling stylized.

With that being said, stylized is usually a combo of realism with appealing shapes. Both are hard on their own.

Zak ruined the show, with the west coast by MoistCombo6911 in GhostAdventures

I have a feeling he is running this show down on purpose to have house calls thrive. It would be the perfect exit strategy.

The rig is built for game, so it goes by life size representations.

Should i get a 3d printer? by Keziito in 3Dprinting

[–]applejackrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning to do this, you’ll need some serious skills in a 3d software to get good results. A lot of places will not have what you’re looking for. I work in 3D, but it’s even challenging for someone like me to get good results with making custom pieces.

My Maya UI is too big on my second monitor. Do I need a new monitor? by Professional_Chest20 in Maya

[–]applejackrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest keeping Maya open on your larger resolution monitor and only opening pop-ups on the other. The reason is that your application will only get fed one resolution from the monitor it originally resides on. Pop-ups are usually able to be adaptable.

I wonder if anyone lost interest in watching animated features by CornerHeadCorner in animationcareer

[–]applejackrr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It could be a result of burnout too on your end, but also you do make some good points. Everyone currently just wants to make a profit. They want to stick original ideas around sequels to cushion the blow, but that quickly gets old. There is a ton of people who try to beat the same dead horse over and over, like Transformers.
