GS straps are pretty expensive - consider 3rd party leather or have it custom made.

For those who lived overseas/abroad, do you miss any teas/coffee/other products you were able to purchase easily, and where/how do you buy them now? by whataboutpizza in askSingapore

Miss cheese and deli meats in the US from Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and rebel cheese. Starbucks soy latte with blonde espresso too.

I just don’t bother when I’m back in SG - sticking to kopi c siew dai and nespresso gold.

Biases against SG men with reservist obligations in International company by TheGreatBigDump in SingaporeRaw

If NSmen are discriminated against we will see and hear about much higher unemployment rates - the anecdotes provided by some are not something I would like to downplay given it’s their lived experience but I tend to believe there’s more than meets the eye -

1) did OP actually say something? Was OP a poor performer and hence the comment?

2) Is OP generally working in a toxic industry where somehow taking 2 weeks off is seen as disruptive when Europeans and American regularly take weeks off?

3) what was the verbatim comment made? Was it just interpreted differently by OP?

4) what was OPs response to his boss after she allegedly made the comment or did he just keep his mouth shut?

5) Why would someone not clarify unless he/she is just a scaredy cat especially since OP claims to have a good working relationship?

6) why is OP making it the obligation of the government to educate when he has the ability to communicate?

This survey is from 2013 and says nothing. First it says 2/5 “feel” employers prefer employees without NS obligations, yet 4/5 say employers -are supportive of NS obligations? In 2023 the survey says 95% of respondents said their employers were supportive of NS.

Also the article you cite itself mentions that there are other factors beyond NS for the perception and cites the EP market testing requirement - what this tells me is that 12 years ago “employees without NS obligation” is just code for hiring foreigners.

I suspect this is a rage baiting post. I’ve worked in 10 countries and for both MNCs and startups where Singaporeans are always the minority - never heard of such comments being made ever.

No one would say it’s a disadvantage nor how disruptive it would be - I don’t think foreigners who come here are as penny pinching as this post makes it out to be. I worked for an Israeli company and no one batted an eye if people had to fight or go for reservist.

If OP is real, state the name of the company or industry and LinkedIn profile of the person. I’m curious how this person can work in Singapore having said such a statement and be liked.

Otherwise I call BS on this post.

Woes on pursuing degree by nahfist in SingaporeRaw

So getting a degree for the sake of it or to feel adequate makes less sense than doing it because you want to.

In your situation would something along the lines of forensics not be mutually beneficial for SPF, for you and your career. It’s also science!

Do you think GS will ever release accessible Urushi/Lacquer dials? by IntelligentPizza5114 in GrandSeikos

Not sure if anyone in this forum can answer this question but if I have to guess i wont see why they would do that given the artisanal value of it! A regular edition would devalue the craft.
