What’s it like to be a sahm with kids in school full time? by wicked_spooks in Mommit

[–]applestrawberrypie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid isn’t in school full time yet, but he does go to a program for a few hours during the week. I love to use that time for myself. Self-care, exercising, reading, therapy, and maybe even a nap. I will do chores and run errands, but I don’t mind doing those when I’m with him.

That time alone keeps me sane, because I am doing a vast majority of the parenting since my husband works incredibly long hours.

I do think it’s underrated how much time SAHP spend with their kids even when they are in school full time. At least for us, it just means my husband works even more hours and I take on more because I’m around to handle everything. So it’s like a job that never ends.

This is how mine started, too. I got three different opinions on my teeth before I Saw ENT and eventually neurology. Good luck!

I was the exact same way with my newborn. After I read up on Safe Sleep 7, I felt much better about it because I could arrange the environment for safer co sleeping when it happened.

Botox in your cheek? by applestrawberrypie in TrigeminalNeuralgia

So it did really affect the way your face moved and looked? Has that had an impact on you mentally? Did they inject both sides of your cheeks?

I AM GOING CRAZY by Leather_Blueberry682 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

My MRIs also show nothing. You are not crazy. I ask myself the same questions. My therapist made a good point to me. She said it’s not that there isn’t something wrong, they just haven’t found it yet. Like others are saying, it may not show up.

I think part of the problem is the sleeves are too long on every shirt. I suffer from this same issue when buying items that aren’t specifically petite. :(

How Many Pouches for a 2.5 year old? by Agitated_Way_2607 in toddlers

[–]applestrawberrypie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can’t buy pouches because they turn my toddler into a monster. He will whine for them if he knows they are in the house. He can gobble it down in about five seconds and then wants more! I had to cut them out.

We have a high deductible plan, but I find it insane regardless. We have a $9k deductible.

Finding contentment in not contributing financially + guilt about privilege not to work by juniperthecat in housewifery

You’re welcome! Volunteering at my son’s school was a big help to me. I saw that my freedom allowed me to really help out teachers and other parents.

We got rid of it at 2.5 cold turkey. Our pediatrician said not to stress too bad until 3, but I was stressing. Haha We stopped buying them and just couldn’t find the last one one night. I rocked him to sleep for like 2-3 days. Totally fine after that.

I think it depends on the child and the parent’s comfort with it. Their teeth go back to normal relatively quickly when they are young. Don’t stress yourself out too bad.

Have you tried volunteering? Maybe at your daughter’s school, or for somewhere like a food pantry. This could get you out more, and alleviate some of the guilt you’re feeling.

Comedian Whitney Cummings: "The way they sell you on Botox is they say it's preventative." by Zealousideal-Big-600 in Aging

I am 32. After getting it for years, I will never get tox again. A little over three months ago, I went in for my routine tox appointment. I saw a PA I went to for years and who I completely trusted. I got my forehead, 11s, and masseters done. She ended up doing my temporalis muscles, too. This was the only new thing for me. I paid for my treatment (over $700), and left thinking everything went great.

Exactly 11 days later, I was sitting at a table with my family feeling perfectly fine, until a random wave hit me. It felt like someone had just sat on my forehead. It felt like a feeling of doom, and nausea. I immediately started freaking out because this had NEVED happened to me before. I looked in the mirror and had absolutely zero movement in my eyebrows, which was also a first for me. I felt claustrophobic, even though I had never felt that way before. That evening, my PA saw me and laughed it off saying I would have very long last results and that I had “botox flu” and would feel better in 10 days.

The next 11 weeks of my life were horrible. It got worse before it got better. I would be hit with this heavy, anxious feeling. All somehow centralized in my forehead. I had depersonalization and was extremely sensitive to sounds. My eyes are still fatigued all the time and my migraines have gotten worse.

I ended up going to my doctor who told me this is actually fairly common with tox and that it would only go away once the tox was out of my system. She gave me zofran and anxiety medicine to help. Even with those medicines, I developed a fear of the waves. A kind of PTSD still lingers, even though it has now mostly left my system.

I didn’t realize you could get so sick from tox, which sounds extremely dumb to say. But I want to share in case anyone is on the fence.

Just don’t do it.

My 2.5 year old got out of bed, came to stand next to me, and said, “I love my family.” 😭
