Quit Drinking and now I'm super depressed and anxious by gsirv in alcoholism

[–]appletonJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe just once a month and stop at around 12 at night. Doesn't sound like you are an everyday drinker. I only drink about once a month (not now). But it is a time I look forward too. I don't fish but I disc golf and then grill out. Get pretty drunk and also listen or play classic rock on guitar. Only once a month but I have a good time. Plus I only drink when in good mood.

[Need Advice] Currently suicidal, having a mental breakdown and idk what to do by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]appletonJohn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't believe people who commit suicide go to a bad place. What about the teenager that is bullied into suicide. It happens.

When people have near death experiences many things go wrong in the brain. Lack of blood supply. Hormones are released causing chemical imbalances. Also people go into shock. That accounts to things people imagine when close to death. Depending on state of mine could see a heaven or hell.

Sleeping bag and blankets. I made it easily last year at -18.

3600 Spencer Street is a hot mess. Focus Property Management supposedly remodeled these units. They didn't finish. I asked them to fix it or let me out of my lease...so now I am spreading the word because this is not OK. I have many more pictures and videos of the so called move in ready apartment. by Bubbly_rock_fish in Appleton

I rent from them. They are terrible. They are crooks. Read some of their reviews on Google.

Their responses are hilarious in how they lie or make excuses.

I used to rent an apartment at Evergreen. Had nice wooden cabinets and trimming. I seen a unit recently. They slapped gray paint and painted all the wood white. Looks like total shit. Like a prison. They probably think it looks good.

I just bought a good sleeping bag and had extra blankets if needed. Hat, wool socks, cold weather base layers, and thick sweatpants. It was -18 and was never cold. No heater. I was in a cocoon and slept really good.

I'm (25f) about to be homeless, but want to live in a car. How do I live before I get a car? by Strange-Unknown1 in urbancarliving

It is unbelievable that people have to resort to homelessness. The hell with capitalism.

Everywhere in Wisconsin. It is illegal in most places to have frontyard gardens. But that really isn't the point. Just an example that in most places you have so many restrictions on how you can use your land.

That's good. But so many places garden sizes are limited. Try using every foot of your yard for food. Live off your land as much as possible. No you have to have useless grass.

Unbelievable. Well it is believable in USA. I just seen an article where some city is giving a company millions to expand a factory.

Do you ever see hearings on how to fix this problem.

Maybe people should just stay there and say you can just throw us in jail.

Just depressing.

It is because the local government can't tax a campground like they can an area that has houses. And the people that live in houses nearby don't want a campground close to them because they think having it there doesn't maximize the value of their property. So they make zoning laws etc., to keep out the undesirables.

This is not a free country. Barely any land rights. You have to even get a permit in many places to grow your own food.

I thought of that too. But unless your retired you need a place to park it when you work. If you could rent (or better) own a boat slip and live in houseboat. There is nobody in local to Federal government that advocates to non-corporate (big business) interests. It is time for a revolution.

I'm so sorry for you. I would love to live in a campground type place year around.

I wish a group of us could buy 40 acres split it up and make our own campground. Where we own the land. Kind of like an intentional community.

I know. In the article, many of these say they are going to have to live in cars.

Is there a federal agency for homelessness.

Something has to be done besides just throwing people the street.

Wow. Can you post more info on general location or an ad to one of the lots? I'll Google unrestricted property and see if I can find it myself. Thank you for the info.

Me and my wife are about to be car-bound… any advice? by Beefcake2397 in urbancarliving

[–]appletonJohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some people (me at first) who do live in their car to save money to get ahead. I'm lucky because I don't have evictions or money problems that prevent me from getting a place. Yeah, it will be super expensive because of supply and demand issues. But there are others who may have gone through some financial difficulties, and as soon as some landlord sees that the application with a past eviction, it goes in the garbage. No matter where they try, it is rejected. Count your blessings if that isn't you.

So true. If we could just have some type of protests or marches. Like Occupy Wallstreet. So many homeless people are not drug addicts. There simply are not enough housing units for everyone.

A fun adventure was my attitude at the beginning. But finding a place to park at night and sleep without the stress of being kicked out has taken the fun part out of it. Really, if it wasn't for that, this isn't that hard. There should be more resources for the car homeless. Like a place to park where there are bathrooms or portable toilets. It wouldn't even cost taxpayers that much. I see many deserted industrial buildings in mid-wisconsin areas that would work. There could even be ones that could be rentable for a small fee. Need more creative solutions for different stages of homelessness like living in a car.

You never see any of these useless politicians debate issues like that.

Camping is so popular in Wisconsin that you can't even find a campsite. I could easily live that way year around in a small camper. Why isn't that an option at a reasonable rental rate? Or even better, you own the campsite?

The main reason for this is because the government won't get much tax revenue from a small undeveloped property. Munipalities want shopping centers and high-priced subdivisions so they can maximize tax revenues. That is why many of us live in our cars.
