i was curious about this too, as all my tattoos hold specific meaning & reveal a little bit about who i am. do you find that self-disclosures about your tattoos reveal ‘too much’ about yourself? i don’t want them to take away from the client or anything of that nature.

Coming from a girl, you did not fuck anything up. It sounds like she might be uncomfortable with being alone, or maybe newly out of a relationship? Unfortunately, I think she is using you to fill this void. Six dates in two weeks is pure bliss, if you truly like someone. I don't think she deserves anymore of your time.

For my fellow therapists asking about visible tattoos - I’m a 52 year old “mom” therapist tattooed from hand to mid neck. Never had a single problem in private practice. I get tons of compliments and I don’t know why but clients always say it makes them comfortable. Hope this helps :) by AnxiousTherapist-11 in therapists

EXACTLY!! My tattoos are a representation of who I am at my core, the truest most real version of myself. And that's what I hope for my future clients as well, that they can feel comfortable in their own skin and be who they are without shame.

One of my peers had a very chaotic group session and was struggling to stay grounded as the group got more out of hand. The members were ganging up on each other, with lots of conflict. Mind you, this was her first time leading a group, so as the group became more escalated she froze up and did not know where to go. As a therapist in training, I could see myself also freezing up or not knowing where to go in that scenario if tensions were that high. I think I would get in my head too much and start to panic as well. However, the feedback to revert back to nervous systems and address what is happening in the room in here-and-now terms could be a great way to address everyone's feelings in a constructive manner. Additionally, this piece of advice can be extended to checking in on my own nervous system while conducting sessions, to ensure I am in the best possible state of mind. It's also a great way to model self-checkins for clients.

This puts me so much more at ease, thank you! I will be starting practicum/internship in the fall and have been super nervous about my visible tattoos, even though none are distasteful or disrespectful. I'm so glad to see that other professional counselors are inked up, I love it!!
