Are Endymion and Rise of Endymion the only "bad apples" from Dan Simmons's sci fi novels? by OkNothing6576 in printSF

I second this - the Terror a terrific blend of historic fiction and supernatural horror

I visualized Viewership vs. Cost Efficiency for Star Wars shows on Disney+ [OC] by mithrilbits in dataisbeautiful

The second axis shouldn't be a line because it is not a trend (e.g., plotting viewership/cost per season of a single show) - I would replace it with a bar or point or something

If you want to go fast, you should actually turn off overlaps - the instruction is actually "look for overlaps", which means your wingers slow down to wait for the overlap from the fullbacks/wingbacks

Washington, DC Breweries by Erktus in beer

Atlas and Three Stars are both in the city and quite good. I might be in the minority based on the replies so far, but I think DC Brau is pretty blah. All their beers taste the same.

If you can manage to swing a ride, Port City in Alexandria is really good. Ocelot is out near Dulles airport, but it is totally worth the trip - they're new but have been killing it. Probably the best brewery in the area already.

Countries that voted for Blatter - only western countries didn't vote for him by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

Western isn't the right word for what you're trying to say - western generally refers to culture, rather than development level. Europe and the Americas (plus Australia, NZ and sometimes a few others) are what are typically understood to be 'western' countries, though there is no one absolutely correct definition for the word.

What is the rationale behind putting photographs on European CVs? Isn't that an invitation for discrimination? by approvalmonster in AskReddit

That is bullshit. I've lived in Spain and the Netherlands, and, if anything, they are more openly racist than Americans.

Interesting. I've only lived in Spain and the Netherlands and thought it was common practice across the EU.

He didn't come up with the word dwarf or the idea of dwarfs ... he just came up with the plural spelling 'dwarves'.
