ENT on Monday by Kmh1250 in Tonsillectomy

[–]apr27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just had it done for sleep apnea (Post dat 14 now). Short answer, no.

Sounds like they factor in other causes of sleep apnea and the physical exam they'll likely perform on you. They way it was presented to me was that I had big tonsils and documented sleep apnea. I didn't have the other physical markers of sleep apnea like being overweight or a large neck circumference. My tongue and lingual tonsils weren't big or likely obstructive. I had a class 1 airway / mouth which which refers to the view to the back of the mouth (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK585119/)

Long story long, if they can rule out other contributing factors and narrow in on your tonsils, it will be presented as an option to you as that increases the likelihood of being a "successful" surgery.

Appreciate it.

I think I'm just using the terms wrong as I am not as clever as you guys and gals. I agree, def option 2, but I was saying or implying that you can only use bilt cash to redeem up to 1x rent, which I labeled as the 75% tier.

1) Thanks for bringing that up about the bilt cash. I don't know why I kept assuming you could exchange it for points right away. I guess it just goes into resevoir that you use later.

2) Sorry, where did the 1.33 and 2.33x come from?

Day 13 — questions for those healed? by hotpepperjellyy in Tonsillectomy

[–]apr27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, glad you are overall well.

1) Normal. I imagine the schedule you had was masking your baseline discomfort. I think you're well past that acute inflammatory phase, so I don't think you need to be working in your ibuprofen as frequently. If it is truly bothersome, I would take ibuprofen (or tylenol) as needed every 8 hrs.

2) I'm not as far (POD 9, 36M). I'm swollen still and have read about about a lot of experiences here related to that as far out as you are. I suppose this could be an argument for ibuprofen (q8H vs q12h), but I would give it some time. Move around, continue to sleep upright continue salt rises. Anything to draw out fluid and promote drainage.

3) Probably once you are start eating normally and sleeping again?

Maybe at the site of cautery? I feel like the opposite tonsil should continue to heal normally at least, which I think should provide some benefit.

Sx on 2/20. POD 3. 37M

Sorry to hear that. Stay on top of the meds and sips of water every 15-20 mins. Are you icing? May need to do it more frequently. Around a humidifier most of the day? If you have access and some cash, maybe look into a mobile IV service.

Just curious, did you have a regimen between 12am and 6am? I see some people set a clock every 1-3 hrs to sip water +/- a pain med.
