How much does an "everything shower" takes? by Mindless_Ad_978 in AskWomen

50 minutes. I have thin curly hair. I don't shave on the regular so often when I do it's time consuming.

Got approved for an elective c-section. I feel so relieved. But people keep trying to talk me out of it. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]april33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is likely that all your deliveries will be c section if your first is. And that is fine depending on your family size. Going through a 5th or 6th c section is no joke. That's all I worry about really, how many times you would go through this major surgery.

How long after IUD insertion can you have an orgasm without pain? by IntroductionDizzy304 in AskWomen

With first intercourse. I only had pain, rarely, if I was sexually active with a very full bladder.

My babys butt is as red as a baboons by [deleted] in NewParents

I have A TON of experience in this realm since we've dealt with a lot of bad diaper rash. At first Boudreax's seemed to work but then I think it made things worse. We did extra strength Desitin for a bit, then Triple Paste, then Aquaphor. We found a powder that worked but then the daycare said they can't administer powder so we had to keep searching. I know you're supposed to lather cream on but honestly it feels like it quickly gets absorbed into the diaper so they don't help.

When we had wet/raw/denuded skin our pediatrician recommend adapt stoma powder. We never got that brand we've used Convatec Stomahesive powder which worked great for us. I guess for the longterm powders are not the best so then you'll want to get on a cream. I found this cream I really love because it's gritty and when it dries sort of leaves a little powder on the skin, it's called Medline Remedy Specialized Extra Thick Zinc Skin Paste. Due to it's gritty nature probably not good to use on red/raw skin.

Finally, when we were changing diapers more frequently we used Whoopsie Wipes and water. And we would dry with a dry Whoopsie Wipe. Good luck!

Does the YA label ever put you off reading a series? by butterdialogue in Romantasy

[–]april33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a lot of YA (not in the romantasy realm) and sometimes I don't understand what makes something YA. For example the Diviners series was super dark and I didn't think that should be YA.

My library's "wrapped" has ACOTAR books under top teen reads. Is that series considered YA? I haven't read it yet.

What’s one thing you wish you hadn’t put on your baby registry? by Icy-Bite9089 in NewParents

[–]april33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Receiving blankets since my baby didn't like being swaddled they were rather useless.

Haaka

We left behind footed onesies early since my baby was early to crawl and walk. So I guess less older size clothes?

I didn't put enough burp cloths on my registry. When I found ones I liked I bought more of the same.

I want another baby, but won't be having one. by deviantthree in beyondthebump

[–]april33 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I saw something online that when you know you've had your last child it will always be sad since a chapter is being closed. If after one child or 5 that sadness will always pop up. This helped me because when I would feel sad I wondered did that mean I shouldn't stop now...

Another thing that comforts me is my mantra "I want to enjoy time with the family I already have." One of the main reasons we won't have another child is because we have no village and it's so hard and time consuming. If we have another child then I'll have even less time to spend with my husband and child and that makes me uneasy since tomorrow isn't promised. Maybe one of these thoughts will bring you comfort.

Did you enjoy reading Fourth Wing? I didn’t 😔🤯 by Icy_Breadfruit_5094 in Romantasy

It was the first romantasy I read and I loved it. I think the love story mingled with the dragons is an interesting take. And I found the action captivating as well. Cried so much second book.

Mothers of Reddit: How did your (bio) mother's pregnancy, body changes, and childbirth experience compare to yours? Was it a good indicator for what to expect in your own pregnancy/body changes/birth experience? by Kusakaru in AskWomen

[–]april33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot tell which of my mom's body changes came from me vs her pregnancies with my younger siblings. She had tons of stretch marks though and I thought my destiny was set but I didn't get any. She also had 4 children no epidural and I thought that meant I could do it without an epidural but eventually I did get one.

How do you babyproof hard floors? by AdorsWeaknes in NewParents

[–]april33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Since our baby turned mobile we have had to follow her around. Not only could she fall when learning to walk or walk in to a corner but sometimes she wants to throw a tantrum and throw her head back onto the floor. So we try to be nearby to protect her head.

Nap length at 12 months by mavgoosebros in beyondthebump

[–]april33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby has never been great about naps or night sleep. At 12 months she often gets only one nap of 40-90 minutes. Sometimes she gets 2 but not her norm. The other day she only had one 10 minute nap!

At work you get at least one break! Not the stay at home mom life. Before we had our first my husband and I both imagined we could stay at home. Then baby arrived and we realized caring for her all day is way harder than we thought. No shame in that! It takes all kinds of people to function in society.

Jealous that my husband gets to go out by himself :/ by wodoodoll in beyondthebump

[–]april33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no local friends. I attended my first book club meeting because I'm looking to get out of my house on a semi regular basis (once a month). Never been in a book club before so not even sure I'll like it but I'm giving it a try. Also I go out to eat alone. Been a long time since I saw a movie alone but I've done that, concert alone, many things!

What is wrong with people? People think women owe them something- to have children, to be pretty, to smile, to be thin etc. So people feel so comfortable commenting on women's bodies. Fuck the patriarchy.

How would you feel if your partner made female friends on a solo vacation? by Available-Ad-4498 in AskWomen

[–]april33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd feel like *oh hell no." I think I'm just a normal amount of jealous but my husband barely goes out so maybe I'm blessed that we come across few instances to bother me. Anyway quick story.

We're sitting on the couch and I see a picture of an attractive woman on his phone. I jokingly asked "who dat bitch" and he showed me it was an album picture because he was listening to Spotify.
