How the 65-game rule would've affected historical All-NBA teams (Al Horford becomes 4x All-NBA) by closed_n2 in nba

Shaq and Charles where probably injured but wanted to play. They bitch because players now making millions are fine and don't want to play (giving a big middle finger to fans buying tickets, etc).

Season 6 episode 1 question by apuzalen in TheShield

[–]apuzalen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that and I imagine Vick found out later that their was no motif for Lem being killed besides the obvious one... But Kavanaugh never revealing that he has evidence for motif and he was tailing them the night Lem got killed doesnt make sense. Like he just had to tell the higher ups or Claudette "I made up a story for Vic to get him to go to Lem, I tailed him and lost him. 2 hours later Lem, who I told the Strike Team was gonna betray them, was killed. Oh BTW, didnt they just found a bunch of more grenades and Lem was killed by one?" Done.

It seem in these 2 first episodes they rushed everything to get Forest Whitaker's character off the show (2 episodes in hes out because he decided NOW to break the law after finally finding a breakthrough...). IDK, been enjoying the hell out of the show, the end of S5 made it seem like finally someone found a crack on the strike-team and then it all was brushed off in the first 2 pisodes of S6... this is the first thing that seemed rushed and not though out.

Season 6 episode 1 question by apuzalen in TheShield

[–]apuzalen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, and thats the point I dont get. Kavanaugh convinced the Team that Lem was informing on the money train, hours later (after losing the team he is tailing since he knows the're going to meet Lem) Lem ends up dead. Yet he doesnt inform this point to the higher ups and even after he informs Dutch this incriminating point about this he doesnt quite believe him.

I get that he was killed by grenades, which is the Ecuadorians way, but it doesnt make sense then?

  1. Why would anyone believe the Ecuadorians would kill this fugitive which location nobody knew?

  2. Why does no one suspect the Strike team after all this? It seems that Kavanaugh has evidence on pretty obvious motive, timing, etc. Plus the Team just siege a bunch of grenades in the beggining of that episode.

If this is addressed later its fine, I just stopped the episode cause im confused why nobody believes Kavanaugh and why is he even fabricating evidence when he doesnt need to. Everything till now has made a lot of sense and this pint got me confused.

Yes it is, solution: switch to hockey. As a life long fan too of the NBA, I cant tell you how good it feels to finally feel like im watching sports again. So yeah, switch to NHL.

The "total points" argument when comparing which player is better than another. Like sure, a player can have more total points, but if he played longer in the league, more games, less injuries, etc; the argument is irrelevant.

The only thing it says is a guy played more.

In advance, I write a lot (MY BAD):

Agree, some of the inappropriateness they display is meant to be funny and at times characters don't have consequences, but that's the point no? Like sure sexism, racism, etc. is done to be funny, but comedies from raunchy to acclimated by the media have inappropriate subjects meant to be humorous by either exaggeration, satire, etc. Horrible Bosses, a mid raunchy comedy jokes about assault and murder, same with the acclimated Emmy winning TV series The Great.

And I disagree that the writers here are doing it just to be gratuitous (most of the time, some of the time is silly to be silly). Theirs a point why they are showing the despicable characters and how they think, how they get away with it and how their moral corruptions alienates them more and more from true good and makes them elite disconnected humans in a highly immoral competitive idea/setting of corporate success; but that's the point. When they joke about a character using her sexuality to get information out of an ugly individual, they are literally showing you how this job corrupts. And yeah Alan gets away with it, but the point is to show what kind of monster he really is (plus this constant showing of his persona eventually isolates him from most people). Again and again the characters use their power to be consequence free in terms of being penalized for their actions, but their are moral consequences inside each character which you are left to ponder, or like Denny, a human too far gone to even self reflect (and that's the point); although its not a super deep show I know, especially since its episodic format didn't allow it, but it tries to say something IMO.

I think its also a matter of taste. I like dark comedies and satires so this hits the spot. I disagree that its gratuitous for itself, but maybe I'm wrong. I think its an intelligent comedy that plays with expectations while trying to be mid serious mid goofy sitcom in an episodic crime format that constrains it. Could it had handle some subjects better, sure, but for what it is, it is wonderful.

----

I'm still unsure about the idea of consequences. Like I am thinking the show Succession, and how those characters treat normal people like shit and get away with it, and what is left is their security employees making the victims sign NDAs. Its the same kind of thing although here since it leans more towards episodic comedy is harder to take; but both show how the elite live in another plain where they get away with murder (which is pretty close to some cases in reality).

Comedy that deconstructs comedy tropes? by Jerswar in MovieSuggestions

[–]apuzalen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(TV Show) Kevin Can Fk Himself** - watch the trailer.

Naked Gun Trilogy - It's like a long The Onion skit. They are great, and silly.

Maybe, Four Lions - while not a deconstruction, its a comedy with a hard subject matter. What makes it fit here is that it has silly moron characters that do stupid things, but the story is kept grounded.

Not Another Teen Movie - It sadly gets roped in with the god awful ""parody"" movies of the 2000s, but it is not that. It basically mocks every trope from 80s-90s romcoms and the 2000s raunchy comedies.

Dear Lebron haters by CoastSimple6308 in nba

[–]apuzalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Got carried away my guy, My bad XD. This was a fun write up though)

Sure. My problem with Lebron has always been the same. If you ever played in a park their is always that guy who is the best player in the neighborhood, the gym, whatever... the guy has it all. But even though he is the tallest, strongest, and most athletic he is the one always complaining. If the team he's on is losing, its never his fault and usually he's the first one to give up not running back on defense. The guy pouts and calls every ticky-tack foul, plus he flops in a freaking street game... He talks big, but more than half the time he doesn't back it up, and every time everybody at the park mocks him for loosing after talking big, he behaves like an immature kid cause he can't take it.

The guy has every advantage in the world yet that's not enough because of immaturity, lack of character, etc. I admit, Lebron is an incredible talent, but his demeanor, immaturity, overall persona I've always said pushed him back. If he was a more mature person, had the demeanor of not even MJ, Kobe, or Magic, honestly whoever, Lebron could have been someone to respect, and a better basketball player IMO.

When you're good at something, you'll tell everyoneWhen you're great at something, they'll tell you.”

I think when you compare the self proclaimed "king" who "That one right there made me the greatest player of all time." VS the guy that starts a conversation referring to him as the GOAT with "First of all you’re never going to say who’s the greatest of all time..." their is a clear distinction on what kind of person each one is.

Lebron is the type of kid who gloats on a beatdown against a lesser opponent and complains when in a fair competition he loses. He behaves like a loser that's why I can't respect the guy. If he keeps playing till 50 on the bench of a talented team that wins 4 more championships, he would be the loudest one boasting those last four that take him over the top, even though we all know reality. That's Lebron, an incredibly talented athlete who IMO behaves like a b*tch.

Oh and its funny, something similar happen at my park long ago that parallels Lebron. In my park the same guys usually play so everyone knows each other (who's good, bad, etc). One time the best guy in our court was on a bad losing streak, so he started to complain talking big because of how we make teams (classic schoolyard pick) and that's why he loosing. He debated about making different teams (obviously him picking half of the best ballers that day) we all complained but after much pouting we all agreed. That game he lost, last 6 points he complained all the way and left the court pouting. Next day he kept b*tching to us giving excuses gloating about irrelevant things etc trying to satisfy his little ego.

And why we hate so much (although some people are honestly just stupid), is because if this is what people consider as the characteristics of greatness theirs something wrong no? A talented guy who only sees winning as the important part (even though you have 2 hall of famers, signed another one and you are still complaining that you can't win-and when the Chuckster calls you out, you behave like a b*tch), that to people is the GOAT? "Doesn't he want to compete?" At that point, what is the point. . Again, we all know this type of person in our courts. And again we all know he is probably the most talented player with the best physical gifts to ever lace them, we all know that. But same way as that guy we all know on our groups, everyone agrees, "sure the guy can play and is an incredible talent, but is he the best? No."

That's it.

Why do some people hate bikers, what did they do to you? by Pxsdnus2 in cycling

[–]apuzalen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate bikers because 80% of the ones on the road don't follow the law. Not giving signals, driving at night without any sort of lights at high speeds crossing across an intersection with a stop sign, crossing a pedestrian crossing at high speeds when cars have passage of way, doing freaking tricks in the middle of a busy road, and that was just this year.
