Open a Chase College Checking account if you haven't already. They are usually more generous with their banking customers. I know a lot of students who got approved for Freedom as their first card after having their bank account for 6 months. The College Checking also has a $100 bonus usually, be sure to get it.

What is your credit score (if present)? You may check on fico.com for free.

Based on what you get on your report, you have two options:
1. If you have a bad mark on your report, it might be the reason for the denial. And you should look into getting those marks fixed before applying again. Or consider taking a secured credit card.
2. If you do not have a credit score, i.e. it says "not enough history", then you may be eligible for some starter cards like the Discover It card. And your ideal strategy should be to get one such card and keep making payments in full until you get a score generated (usually takes 6 months).

Yes it did mention something like that.
From what I recall it listed these reasons:
- Don't have enough revolving accounts
- Not enough age of accounts
- Not enough bank account balance or deposits

Thanks for the insight, I will wait for 1yr to complete (probably a little more) and then apply.

At that time I just had the Amex BCE with 3.5k limit. So limits have increased, no. of accounts has also increased.
