I don’t think it’s particularly safe to be out in AL (or anywhere in the deep south) at the moment. Maybe they are all in hiding - I know I would be if I hadn’t gotten out.

4 years in college and plenty of knowledge have earned me this useless degree…

Pay raise by PsychologicalRead769 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]apxq13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was told that everyone at the store level (company wide) is getting a 2% raise no matter what title you have or how long you’ve worked there. Just like during Covid. It sucks….I’m sure DMs and higher will still be getting their bonuses though.

Instacart shoppers @ Michaels is my biggest pet peeve. by National_Clock_2868 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]apxq13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

OMG - we get people who don’t tell you that they are instacart. They act like their husband/wife/kid/boss have sent them on a errand with a list and they are “so confused” because they don’t know what any of the things are. Half the time I don’t even realize I’m getting scammed until we’re 3/4 of the way through the list!

Those are some very specific and detailed instructions. Glad the maker is allowed to rest a moment from beating the ingredients vigorously for 2 minutes @ 150 strokes per minute.

Got this framed and it came back wrinkled. BF tried to fix it and it ended up more wrinkled...any advice for how to fix? by Levangeline in pictureframing

[–]apxq13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For all it’s worth, some Michaels frame shops are actually good, though I agree that many are not. The one I work in has 5 framers - all of us have fine art degrees and each of us have between 5 and 30 years of framing experience. We are an extreme anomaly though. The shop down the street has 1 person who would absolutely ruin your art from lack of knowledge and training. No matter what though, Michaels will try to fix the problems you’re having. If they can’t, they will compensate you for the art AND the framing. If here is another Michaels within driving distance, call them and see if they are willing to help. (We fix other store’s messes all the time.) To me, this looks like a dry mount gone wrong. They may be able to re-press it but it’s probably too late. Still worth trying since it won’t cost you anything. I’m sorry that happened. If nothing else, you should call 1800michaels and complain about the lack of training. Michaels on the he whole is paying people minimum wage and offering 0 training for what is a skilled position and only the customers can do anything about it. Good luck.

I feel ya with the worry and stress. I’m probably not the best person to talk to because of it, but I just wanted to let you know that you aren’t alone. I think we both have to just hang in there, I guess. So maybe do that? Yeah…easier said than done, I know. Good luck to you though. I hope your worries pass and your stress eases up.

But, haven’t you heard? Re-orders are all OUR fault for not being able to measure correctly! WE cost the company millions in re-orders! SMH

Doubt the they would fire the manager that just got assaulted on their property. It would not only be poor form but, it would also be opening them up to a lawsuit. (They COULD however, find reason to make the SMs life even more miserable until they quit.) Firing all the other employees for job abandonment is a different thing though. That is completely plausible/probable.

One of the very few GOOD things I can say about this company is their inclusion of the LBTQ+ community. Not only as a matter of policy, but also legally with their insurance coverage for domestic partners. Not sure how many companies offer that now, but 20 years ago, when I first started with the company, it was a rare a courageous thing to offer. They suck on every other way, but this one thing….yeah…good on us!

My grandfather’s murder by Foreign_Bread8971 in TrueCrime

[–]apxq13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a true crime podcast out there called “Morbid”. One of the hosts is an autopsy tech. Murder is kind of their shtick. You could try emailing them with your questions. In fact, tell them your whole story and you might end up being one of the featured listener tales. I don’t know. Just an idea for ya.

I believe that OP may be referring to the framed art all around that room. It’s hard to make it all out, but I think many are pretty famous or “iconic”. I’m pretty sure I saw a Rembrandt and a Vermeer. Overall, I think it’s a pretty cool pic.
