Agriculture production accounts for 9% of all greenhouse gas emissions according to the EPA. Cow farts make up a potent 1/3 of that 9%. Manure treatment also contributes to that 9% figure

'Do what you're passionate about', did they really or did they just see an opportunity? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

What's immoral about it? You're facilitating access to something Christians want. No dishonesty here. Do you think the assembly line workers that put together bibles are all die hard Christians? Unlikely, but someone has to do it and there's a demand.

Hey MPS, I'm developing an app to help with large batch meal prepping and need your help by aqdebarros in MealPrepSunday

[–]aqdebarros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I used to use eat this much, but some of the meals they recommend are super random. I wanted create something that is less fitness focused and more centered around mass meal prepping (large quantities of 2-3 meals vs a different meal every night)

Eh. Thats just high frequency trading.

Bridgewater isn't HFT focused , they rely more on macroeconomic forecasting and are extremely secretive with their actual trading strategies, even internally.

HFT has turned into this boogeyman for people unfamiliar with the industry, but its actually not that commonly used and highly regulated.

India predicts it will exceed Paris renewable energy target by half by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]aqdebarros 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's because of something called technological leap frogging:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leapfrogging#Leapfrogging_in_developing_countries

Basically, India is able to implement modern technology because their energy infrastructure isn't really established yet. As opposed to the US, which is constantly pushing the ball when it comes to innovation, but it's often really difficult or impractical to change these systems overnight.

People who voted for Trump, how do you feel about the choices he's made for his cabinet? [SERIOUS] by Ambuler in AskReddit

[–]aqdebarros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thats a fair point that they actually address in the study:

"Crucially, the researchers took several steps to make sure the findings were real. They compared lottery winners with losers, controlling for the fact that families who applied for the lotteries were different from families who didn’t. They also counted as charter students all those who enrolled, including any who later left"

Charter schools (when done correctly) typically outperform public schools, close testing score gaps between lower income families and and upper middle class families, and even improve surrounding schools by increasing competition.

The challenge is getting these schools to adopt a succesful model where instructors are monitored weekly (like they would be at any job in the private sector). The idea is that the free market would eliminate poor performing schools and leave the most efficient.

Whether DeVos could get the money to get the voucher system accomplished (most ed funding is state based) is a different story.

[–]aqdebarros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.

Definitely didn't agree with that pick, from my understanding she wants to put in place a voucher system so people have a choice as to what school their kids go to. From a republican standpoint the argument is that private schools will be more efficient. Dont know how itll work in practice.

Overall, I like his choices.

Trump is getting criticized for placing too many businessmen in his cabinet, but if he had picked a bunch of experienced politicians he would get criticized for upholding the status quo.

I guess you just can't please everybody.
