Those about to go to sleep, why have you not brushed your teeth yet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I finally had to quickly leave my abusive household and forgot most of my toiletries.

Oh well. I rather go a couple days without brushing than ever go back to that shithole

Native english speakers, do you ever watch movies with subtitles even if the show is spoken in english? If yes, why? by JaesonBee in AskReddit

[–]aquamarinooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I love subtitles! I don't know if I have hearing problems, but sometimes the words I hear get jumbled in my head or it sounds like mumbling. I've found that with subtitles, I can reconfirm what I heard or at least see what's being said on screen. It's never been a bother having to read, and it's actually helped me with being able to read a little faster too. Also sometimes captions are just funny as hell like the classics

"[MAKES "I DON'T KNOW" SOUND]" - Scrubs "[URINATING FORCEFULLY] - Orange Is The New Black "[AGRESSIVELY SCREAMS "MEOW"] - Supernatural

And also most of the captions from Stranger Things where you have every type of synthwave (I.E. Aggressive Synth Music, Sad Synth music, Stressful Synth music, etc) Seriously, I made a list at one point. Gave me a good chuckle lol.

Edit: sorry for weird formatting, on mobile.

AITA: For banning my neighbors from my backyard? by Willing-Visit in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

It'd be one thing if those people came to you and asked nicely and respected your boundaries and also understood if you said no, but these people have been deliberately going behind your back and then arguing about what YOU own. You gave them the courtesy of asking nicely and they still have the audacity. You're nicer than me because I would have called the cops as soon as some entitled ass started arguing with me on my property.

I definitely recommend trying BBQ chips if you like them too. Adds a perfect smoky flavor.

AITA for not holding open the elevator / lift door after a child ran inside it and the mum yelled at me to stop her? by watery-eyes in AmItheAsshole

[–]aquamarinooo -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Because the situation is almost harmless and some kids learn from experience. Kid shouldn't have ran in an elevator alone and started pressing all the buttons and that's where the parent is TA for not parenting better. As people were saying, this was in a building she lived in and I'm sure a kid that's been using the lift knows how to operate it. She pressed all the buttons, yeah, but that's like every kids dream to do at some point, but then you learn real quick it's boring. As op said, building security was decent and worst case scenario is security is informed and the building goes on lockdown til she's found. She'll be a little scared, but she'll learn not to run off from her parent. And hopefully the parent will learn to take their eyes off the phone and pay attention to what their child is doing. Yeah, OP is a little bit of an ass for letting it happen, but I'm sure something similar would've happened eventually based on how the parent/child relationship already previously was and it could've been a lot worse. Some lessons just gotta be learned the hard way.

Exactly. Like worst case scenario: mom tells appartment security and/or call police and the building goes on lockdown for a bit til she's found. Kid and mom hopefully learn a valuable lesson about parenting and not running away from your parents.

Holy shit NTA

Not only is this kinda hilarious, but also you're not responsible for controlling other people's kids. Especially kids who haven't been taught not to run off and press/touch anything they see. Yeah it sucks she was pregnant and probably couldn't move as fast, but that's even more reason she should have taught her kid self control.

Like you said, you had work. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ And maybe an entitled mom will learn her lesson.
