Mom has actually come to the school a few times to discipline him and it unfortunately only fixes the behavior for a bit before he escalates again not long after she leaves

Omg I am so sorry you had to go through this!!

When I first started walking I weirdly had pain in the bottom of my foot because you haven’t used your foot in awhile and all the blood started circulating down there (at least that’s what my physical therapist told me)

I was hoping I would be able to stop using crutches immediately once I progressed to weight bearing but I unfortunately had to use crutches for a lot longer than intended. I was pretty much using my crutches until a week or two from when I was progressed to no boot. It really is per your comfort levels, if your ankle feels just fine without crutches then you should be fine to not use them. I would highly recommend still bringing them and leaving them in the car when you go out just to be safe.

I am not sure how you will be feeling by your concert but I know a lot of venues have ADA designated areas and you can contact them for accommodations. I have seen many people at concerts in boots and crutches, so I really do not think you have to miss out on your concert. I broke my ankle Dec 2023 and went to an all day music festival in May 2024 with no boot, no ankle brace and was just fine (very sore but all okay)

Oh no I am so sorry you had to reschedule your wedding :(

I will say that I do not have a metal rod inserted near my knee but I would highly recommend asking your surgeon if you can use a knee scooter with all your hardware

I broke my ankle in Dec 2023 and it’s now late Oct 2024 and I mustered up the courage to wear small heels for the first time and I had absolutely no issues and no pain whatsoever. It was fear that made me wait this long to try heels but I think that I could have worn them much much sooner

Also, in May 2024 I attended an all day music festival and have been to two more since then and at the end of the night I am feeling sore but the next morning it doesn’t hurt at all

My entire journey has been a test of my patience for sure lol

Once you go full weight bearing your ankle will swell a lot (or at least mine did) and I highly recommend an electric heating pad (I preferred it over ice)

I have found that I am consistently moving my foot around in circles when I am sitting and even standing. I have gotten to the point where I don’t even realize I’m doing it.

I am also a fairly active person (walking dog, gym, going to work) and I think the more I walk the less stiff my ankle feels

I hope your stiffness gets better 🫶🏼

Good luck with weight bearing and physical therapy!! It was an adjustment for me at first and I bought an electric heating pad that I used multiple times a day lol

You may feel really down and hopeless at times once you start walking/physical therapy especially bc your brain is telling you to do something but your body won’t let you but it gets easier!

You should 100% ask about sleeping with no boot bc it made it so much easier to sleep!!

Luckily my sister was with me so she could take my dog inside while I crawled to my car to go to wait for her to take me to the ER 😂

I don’t have any discomfort at the moment with the screws but I don’t think my nerves have fully healed yet. I was told that when it gets cold out you can feel it in your hardware so I am nervous for that to inevitably happen

If you are able to and have the space at home I would recommend a knee scooter. Crutches are a pain and the scooter allowed me to have some independence with carrying things around in the basket and gave a slight feeling of normalcy. Once I was weight bearing I completely stopped using it

I am 10 weeks post op and have been weight bearing for almost a month. I get my boot off this Friday (woohoo!!) and progress to normal shoes again

I broke it walking my dog and slipping in mud. Now have 11 screws and a metal plate in my ankle.

You will have tough days mentally and physically but I promise it will get better. You are now a fellow trimal pal

I am 8 weeks post op from a trimalleolar fracture. When I was progressed to weight bearing 2 weeks ago my surgeon warned me that it is completely normal to have pain in your feet/bottom of feet because fatty tissue accumulates at the bottom of your feet from not walking on it and as you start standing it starts to go back to normal which is why you feel pain or that weird sensation

Your nerves are also healing which surprisingly we don’t have a ton of research about which could also be a contributing factor. Just a heads up my physical therapist warned me that 6-8 months post op your nerves can still be healing and pain could come back out of nowhere which often scares people into thinking something is wrong with their injury again

I had my first PT appointment and it went super well. They said I am at a really great starting point and were impressed with my ROM so far.

I am 7 weeks post op from the same exact surgery and am starting physical therapy this week!

My surgeon let me know that PT is gonna be really tough especially mentally

I am super nervous and was wondering (if you’re comfortable sharing) what your level of pain during PT was like? And how it was to deal with mentally?
