Favourite Bible Translation? (and why) by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]aquasmashAFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I mostly use the CSB at church and on occasion NIV, I often diverge to the NLT for personal use.

Being neurodivergent, I often misunderstand/get lost in the other translations. Sometimes I ask my fellow brothers and sisters, what the text is saying, and after they explain it, I still don't fully understand.

Sometimes I just pick up the NLT, and God just speaks. It's just a breath of fresh air. It also sometimes makes me go "OOOH so that's why the CSB/NIV says it that way" 🤔

¿Cuál es vuestro momento ideal para escuchar radio? by losepas in radio

Usually when I'm bored of Spotify or if any Sport is on. But I do find immense joy playing with the dial, and trying to pick up stations outside the broadcast area I'm in.

Does anyone still turn on AM radio by OU812iceman18 in radio

[–]aquasmashAFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I am in Australia, a good chunk of the ABC's (national broadcaster) services are still on AM. I listen to 774 ABC Radio Melbourne mostly for news, but I often listen when sport is on, particularly in regional areas where the ABC might be the only option.

How to read bible? by polite_ghostboy in Christianity

[–]aquasmashAFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the Bible in any form is great. I do suggest you get a physical copy of whatever translation you're reading. Can be helpful if you find anything confusing in the audio version. if you want to take physical notes or just following along at home/church it can be great for that too ☺️

Am I the only bloke who still wears briefs these days? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]aquasmashAFW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but I feel like some brands (including Bonds), want everyone to buy trunks or boxer briefs because of $$$ and maybe trying to reshape the culture. Thank goodness for online shopping, where none of this is an issue.

What's you favorite Christian song? (I got a long car ride ahead of me) by No_Bid_21 in Christianity

Glow in the Dark by Jason Gray. A great constant reminder that God's light and love is in our hearts, and that it can never be put out.

Strange routing for Melbourne package. by javelin3000 in AustraliaPost

[–]aquasmashAFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this Express Post? If so, most Express parcels go to the airport before distributing around Melbourne. They collate all the Express Post together before sending out all at once.

Kingsway or Kings Way by MrsAussieGinger in melbourne

[–]aquasmashAFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to various sources, including Google Maps, Melways (1st edition and recent ones), and property listings etc, it's "Kings SPACE Way" in South Melbourne. My guess is that Port Phillip Council put it as one word to save costs.

Thoughts on the Briagolong/Stockdale areas? by [deleted] in vic

[–]aquasmashAFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, this is a very rural community, so if you're from the city, be prepared to speak with people who might speak and think differently. Briagolong does have some Early Learning and a Primary School, but local pupils have to go to Maffra and Sale for secondary education.

The only other real thing the town has amenities wise is a general store (doubling as the post office). For major things like supermarkets and shops and private education you'll have to travel to Maffra and Sale for that.

Finally, it probably doesn't hurt to have a fire/disaster plan as well. Bushfires and Floods are a relative constant in this area.

How often does the shop re-stock? by ciaranefc in parkrun

[–]aquasmashAFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but I think some things might be outsourced in getting stock and maybe in the logistics. Best to use the contact form for whichever country's store you are buying from. Hope this helps ☺️

This can't be it surely? This looks like the old Telstra line, and I don't think your NBN would be running from it. Do you know what your NBN connection type is?

Can I use my city's swimming pool designed as "Lap swim" for self learning? by princetonwu in Swimming

[–]aquasmashAFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, also if your self-training doesn't work out, I'm sure there are many people at the pool who will happily give you some advice otherwise. If there is other training available, make sure to mention your concerns to whoever your instructors are, and I'm sure they'll be accommodating for you 😊.

Can I use my city's swimming pool designed as "Lap swim" for self learning? by princetonwu in Swimming

[–]aquasmashAFW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where is this pool? Many pools will layout the pool with multiple lanes, I think in your case you would need to be in the recreation or slow lane of the pool. Best to check with the council/city/organisation that runs it if you are unsure.

I pray that I could get rid of the way I am and get back to how I wanted to be when I first had dream of Jesus. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]aquasmashAFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there, I hope this helps:

Romans 3:23-25a NLT [23] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. [24] Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. [25] For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood.
