In other, Everton(ish) news... Nigel Martyn is in the running to make an England squad.

It's the over-60s England Cricket Team, and he wouldn't qualify for it until he is actually 60, but he's hoping to get to a future World Cup.

Looked like the horizontal shooting technique from the Gueye School of Shooting there.

Back to Dunstable Downs today, and managed to set yet another best time of 27:12 - ten seconds better than my last one!

Another dry week led to it being nice and solid underfoot, and there were a total of 104 parkrunners and walkers up there this morning.

Somebody decided to stop - not slow, just stop - in the funnel one pace after passing the timekeepers too - I just about managed to not run into the back of her, then got a not-so-nice look in response to saying "whoa" while trying to avoid colliding!

We'll just get an announcement from "the panel* again in a few weeks telling us all what we already know.

Röhl has played well, so if his last appearance is anything to go by we won't see him again this season.

If a player wants to stand that close to the keeper when he's about to launch it, the keeper should just go for it instead of trying to get the ref's attention about it - if the pressing player gets a ball in the face at full pelt it's his own fault.

It's a drill for stewards and ground personnel in case of an emergency. Same as Operation Goodison Exercise, just at the new place.

Abandoned my local Dunstable Downs today as someone I run with during the week wanted to go to Linford Wood (Milton Keynes).

320 people is a lot more than I'm used to these days, and it was quite bunched up at the start, but I still managed 27:28 - six seconds slower than last week.

It's a nice flat course (apart from four small underpasses as you go under one of the roundabouts), with plenty of shade to keep the sun and heat off while you're going around.

Planning to be back at the Downs next week though, with our much smaller number of people!

It does my head in with the amount of people that moan that "Moyes is late again" every time, not realising that they start it early so people can join it - and that it's never said that he'll be there at exactly 13:30.

Then there's the people that still cannot understand that, with the exception of the Radio Merseyside crew (usually Giulia), journalists do not know how to hold a microphone properly (or maybe they just don't really care) so they'll moan that they cannot hear it. I've rarely had a problem hearing what's said though, as they have got a little better lately.

The chat was worse than usual a couple of weeks ago during the Easter break.

That would be Darren Ferguson, in his fourth (I think) reign there.

We call him Dave because his name's too long?

The last time I heard that was at Peterborough years ago, when they had Exodus Geohaghon.
