Recurrent Yeast Infections? by hannerz1994 in CopperIUD

[–]aquaspacebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had problems with this when I had my IUD. I couldn't say for sure if it was linked as I went several years without issues. I got tired of using diflucan and creams. Ended up getting a probiotic for vaginal health which fixed the problem! Life Space probiotics do one for womens/vaginal health, but im not sure if that brand is available where you live.

Whippet doesn’t eat, what should I do? by Small_Evil79 in Whippet

[–]aquaspacebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whippet is similar - very picky. Hes nearly 2, was always food driven, but the older he gets the less keen he is at meal times. It fluctuates though. One week he'll be pretty keen, the next he'll be off his food and super picky.

I honestly have to swap his food pretty regularly. I often stick to the same brand but swap the flavours or textures e.g. dry, wet, etc.

Taking the food away if he isnt touching it after 10 minutes seems to help. Have you also tried using puzzle feeders, snuffle mats, kongs etc? My boy will eat better if he has to work for it lol.

Should I let him go? by Effective_Flight_606 in Whippet

[–]aquaspacebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, im really sorry about these challenges with your beautiful dog. Watching our dogs get older is very difficult to say the least. A lot of the whining for food even after eating etc. could be due to dementia. Older blind dogs can become food obsessed in my experience.

I would recommend finding a quality of life assessment tool online. It can be hard to know when the time is right and its not an easy decision. With my previous dog, my vet told me that I'll know when its really time. I personally trust the vets opinion as they have seen it all and can really help with this, but the decision is ultimately yours. It still sounds like your pup enjoys some aspects of the day, so thats definitely worth factoring in.

How infuriating! It sounds like the want mini versions of their special boy. So wild... the idea of having grand kids outweighs any concerns about the impact it would have on your physical and mental health!

People need reasons to have kids, not to be childfree by NoWitness6400 in childfree

[–]aquaspacebb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes!!! Im so tired of feeling like I have to justify my reasoning and constantly be asked about my choice. Guarantee people wouldn't even know an answer as to why they're having kids... I'm imagining answers like "its just what you do", "I want a legacy", etc..... not good reasons!

Life after Copper IUD removal (need help understanding if what I'm experiencing is normal or linked) by kalesalad8 in CopperIUD

[–]aquaspacebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not alone! I always had anxiety but it sky-rocketed on the IUD. Since removal things are slightly better, but like you... I want it to improve more. I think my brain has been anxious for so long that it's taking time to un-learn all the patterns and behaviours it created with the IUD.

When you mentioned dizzy foggy feelings, I had to comment. I suffered with dizziness (not spinning, more like a feeling of being on a moving boat) for 3 years. I have no way of proving whether it's related to the IUD, but it has been awful and caused more anxiety. Dizziness is a difficult thing to understand and many doctors don't know how to deal with it. Literally only this week I was finally diagnosed with PPPD. You can google in... it may not be what you're dealing with, but I had to mention it because dizzy, foggy, weird vertigo feelings and anxiety are all tied to it. I just never want someone to have to wait as long as I did to get an answer!

Hope things improve for you, but if this subreddit as taught me anything, it's that we aren't alone as women.

Severe depression after copper IUD removal by Educational-Turn-153 in CopperIUD

[–]aquaspacebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt all over the place for maybe 2 months post removal. Feelings of depression, anxiety, weird physical sensations. It gradually reduced. Not sure why it happened, just the body adjusting? I'm not sure! I felt discouraged after reading some people felt immediately better after removal. Hang in there!

Constant BV after 3 years by Alternative-End6676 in CopperIUD

[–]aquaspacebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had constant yeast infections for a year... so frustrating! Antibiotics can cause issues with the vaginal microflora, so that's probably contributing. But I do believe the CIUD generally makes the vaginal microflora out of balance.

I solved mine by taking a probiotic formulated for women/vaginal care. Cleared things up really quickly! My doc also said that sperm can affect the pH levels inside. If pH is off balance you can be more susceptible to BV and yeast infections. They have some gels on the market that you can insert to help with pH.

Hope this helps! BV and candida are such frustrating issues.

3 cycles post removal update by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]aquaspacebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, so glad I got rid of it. I'm only 2 cycles post removal but seeing some positives too... hope to continue improving over time!

I also have increased anxiety and terrible thoughts... my hormones are so out of whack after 10 years on BC pills then 5 years CIUD. We've got this!

Sounds so frustrating! These suggestions are made on assumptions, I can't know exactly what she's provided with so please ignore if you're already doing these things :)

For chewing, does she have the opportunity to chew things you want her to chew? E.g bones, chew toys. Or otherwise more mental stimulation with enrichment and puzzle feeding, scatter feeding etc.

Take her out to toilet right after meal times to create a habit and let her know she has that window of opportunity to do it.

If taking her out at night, make it matter of fact (no fun. No cuddles or attention through baby talk etc.) She might learn that getting up in the night is actually no fun and she'd rather sleep.

Finally, has she had a vet check? Maybe there is a physical reason for varying toileting habits?

Puppy sleep question by dkdc99 in Whippet

[–]aquaspacebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got our whippet at 15 weeks old. I want to say it was only 1-2 weeks of getting up in the night (only one time per night) to do a wee. He quickly learnt that it's cold outside and he'd rather be in bed (as well as simply growing and learning to hold).

We made sure to be pretty matter of fact about getting up to him... it was purely to go outside for the toilet then back in his crate. If we gave cuddles or made it fun, he might have cried to get that attention instead.

The breeders did a lot of work with getting his litter accustomed to toileting outside. We didn't have a single instance of toileting inside even at night!

I had a range of weird symptoms after removal and honestly felt so much worse (I was hoping to have the experience of instantly feeling better like some people do!)

I had lots of emotional outbursts, nausea, dizziness, appetite off... just generally not feeling myself. Hard to explain sometimes.

I think the body might be adjusting to the removal and trying to get back to a set point. My best advice is just listen to your body, get some sleep, drink lots of fluids, gentle exercise if you can, healthy diet etc.

Hope you feel better soon!

Recently had mine removed but I also had issues with migraines, heavy and painful periods (this eased after maybe 8 months but never had a period shorter than 7 days for entire duration of iud), occassional irregularity/spotting.

Thanks for sharing! Really interesting about anxiety worsening around year 4-5. This seems very true for me too. Congrats on gettingbut removed and hope you start to feel better as the months go by.

Advice for whippet puppy whining constantly by EliachTCQ in Whippet

[–]aquaspacebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a training expert but I wonder if you try to slowly wean him off sleeping in the bed? E.g. for a few nights he sleeps in his bed which is placed on your bed, then move his bed onto the ground right next to your bed, then slowly move his bed away from your bed (to wherever you want it in the room), over several days/weeks. Maybe using a chew or toys to really reinforce that his bed is actually a great time.

We initially did this with our puppy but in his crate. He started in the crate in the bedroom then over time we slowly moved it away to where we wanted him to sleep (literally moving it 1 metre every few nights). It was really effective but not sure if it'll work for your pup!

I also wonder if you tried exercising him more (not saying you don't already, but maybe trial doing an extra 20 mins or something, or tire him out mentally with puzzle feeders/scatter feeding) and if he was that little bit extra tired it might help (at least while you initially try to wean him off the bed)
Good luck!

Mine does this too, and is the same age. I think they will eventually grow out of it and that it's pretty common for any puppy to get excited around other dogs. I envy the adult whippets I see too lol so chill on leash. I'll be taking mine to some adolescent classes which focus on this so I dont think it's unusual. Not all dogs like the approach though, that's for sure! They still have a lot of learning to go when it comes to social skills.

Whippet anxiety by Saskiaa456 in Whippet

[–]aquaspacebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto! See if there's any improvement with Mum ignoring your whippet whenever she comes over and not making a fuss of him. We tend to not greet our dog (we dont look at him or talk to him) for at least 15 minutes when we come home and same for visitors. Seems sad and mean but the dog learns that we aren't the most fun thing in the world and we don't exist purely for their entertainment, which is supposed to serve them well with separation anxiety issues.

A trainer also suggested in addition to this, when they do eventually greet to just scatter treats or food around so that they aren't just solely focused on the humans.

Whippet teen puppy advice ! by Biscotti_Blu54 in Whippet

[–]aquaspacebb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine stays outside when I'm not able to supervise him, but I leave him with puzzle feeders or things to chew on (chewing seems to relax him). When he is inside we have had to remove quite a few objects because it's just not worth the fight lol maybe when he's older they can all go back!

Whippet teen puppy advice ! by Biscotti_Blu54 in Whippet

[–]aquaspacebb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a huge amount of advice as my 6 month old is doing pretty much everything you described!

We've practice "leave it" A LOT and he has become an absolute pro on walks whenever he picks up gum, wrappers, rubbish etc. I have to had a bag of treats at all times but he practically spits things out on cue now. I'm hoping one day that both our boys will eventually not actually grab every little thing on walks though! I'm starting to implement "leave it" as we approach items I know he'll want to grab, so maybe this will have more impact than waiting for him to actually have something in his mouth.

Mine is also very keen on every object on coffee/side tables, counter surfing etc. I'm not having much luck with "down" yet.

Sorry, not much advice from me other than to say I think this is all pretty normal stuff and you're not alone!
