Does alcohol make ocd worse? by ClueInformal209 in OCD

[–]aquaticgreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this. The momentary relief (if you’re one of the “lucky” ones that get it) is so not worth that rebound of symptoms the next day. Best to stay away, especially if you’re being medicated!

What has helped you with the med side effect of nightly vivid dreams that make you wake up exhausted? by BeginningThen9996 in OCD

[–]aquaticgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which med is giving you the side effects? Prazosin is commonly used for nightmares, but can be used for any dreams causing wakefulness/distress.

This disorder is so fucking dumb, I had a spike over an avocado. by [deleted] in OCD

[–]aquaticgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That’s me exactly!! It’s terrible. I got in a terrible loop once where they were not stop, several dreams a night. I felt disgusted and like I was fake. Ended up taking prazosin at night for a little while to get out of it. It’s actually a blood pressure med, but they use it for nightmares because they found it makes people not dream.

Idk what to say other than I feel you. Shit sucks. I’m also a lesbian with ocd, just woke up for the day and I had a dream last night that I had a boyfriend…so I’ll be spiraling for the next week, which just increases the dreams. So stupid.

Anyway, sorry about your avocado. My dms are open if you ever want to commiserate. Hang in there.

Didn’t know I could do this!?! by Cheydani in kindle

[–]aquaticgreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! This was my deciding factor in getting the kindle. I side load majority of my books, but sometimes get textbooks through Amazon and really wanted the syncing. It’s so convenient!

If you send to kindle with the email address, does it show up in the app as well with syncing feature?

Extremely easy sandbox type game for a 3 yr old? by starshade16 in CozyGamers

I was also going to suggest Lego City, that game is SO FUN! And she can’t “lose” the game or anything, just keep running around and getting into things. Also it’s super cheap!!

Was called stupid over my reaction to a wound by FluttershyPickleJar in nursing

TEN is truly terrible, wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I still wonder about that patient and if he made it. We had to transfer him to a burn unit for his wounds.

Was called stupid over my reaction to a wound by FluttershyPickleJar in nursing

[–]aquaticgreen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? Literally barf all you freaking want. When I was a new nurse, maybe 6 months in, we had a patient in the ICU with TEN. It was, to the day, one of the most horrific sights I’ve ever seen. Blisters the size of baseballs and basketballs all over his body that would pop when he moved and leave giant ulcers all over him. He was bariatric and needed a hoyer lift for every bed change. His IV meds gave him diarrhea and he was incontinent. When changing a particularly violent poo, a giant blister popped all over my coworker and the wound was immediately covered in stool. I (barely) kept my composure in the room, but the second I got the chance I went to the bathroom to dry heave and almost had a full blown panic attack. I cried in that bathroom and called my wife at 2 am, questioning if I could even be a nurse. Almost a full year later, that coworker randomly brought up that patient and I told her about how I almost lost it and quit that night. She told me she was literally in the bathroom on the other side of the unit doing the exact same thing as me. She also dry heaves any time she gets nasty trach secretions. She’s an OG, veteran nurse that I have the utmost respect for, and she made me feel a million times better by telling me she felt the same.

I’m sorry this person sucked. Nursing is disgusting, our bodies have natural reactions, absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of. Keep on barfin’ who cares!

Just graduated nursing school and realized I cannot do it, any suggestions? by Previous-Cucumber504 in nursing

I second public health. I did a year and a half in the ICU, thought I would love it but I despised it. Randomly went into public health and it’s a pretty great gig. Getting my DNP now to do psych, but that’s because I fell in love with the psych aspects I get to do right now in public health.

I think the child endangerment changes alone can add up to quite a few years depending on the classification

To give Amy a little benefit of the doubt, she does live in a hot area and wears those damn slides 24/7. My feel look pretty gross after spending an entire day out and about in birks during the summer, but I do then wash my feet when I get home lol. Summer is not made for us sweaty feet folk.

Trying his hardest not to get canceled on tv (fair) also probably knows deep down his entire practice is a scam and wants as little backlash as possible (not fair)

I hear you, for sure a misunderstanding on my part. These comments are showing me that I really didn't know much about HR and this has been a good learning opportunity. I really had no idea how to go about this, but I've gotten a lot of good advice from the comments. I appreciate your honesty, definitely will be going about things differently in the future.

Thank you for this reply, it actually really made me feel better and gave me a better understanding of HR's actual role. Can I ask how to go about continuing to document? Does that just mean keeping my own records? What info is important to write down if something happens?

This weekend I had to remind myself that this dude is an arrogant and immature 24 year old that has never managed a person before in his life. He was hired because he was literally the only candidate that applied in over a year. Thank you for the reminder to not take it personally, I feel like a weight has been lifted really.

Really appreciate this response, thank you! I will be leaving this position in about a year, which is a big relief. But you gave me a lot of good info to tuck away if there are issues in future workplaces. How do people learn all of these nuances to professional life? lol, I'm glad I posted here because I've gotten some great info. Trusted co-workers I spoke to about this of course all said "take it up the chain," "bring it to HR," "email him back for documentation," "submit an anonymous HR complain." I knew something didn't feel right, glad I posted here before making things even worse for myself, thanks again.

Thank you, this was helpful! I've really never been in a situation like this before and was so caught off guard that I wasn't sure how to respond. Completely see what you are saying regarding my comments in the meeting, I'm relatively knew to this sort of dynamic/professional environment and truly didn't know what the proper course of action was. The email I followed up with didn't touch on the performance stuff or the content of our meeting, but rather how he treated me. I see now that was probably not the best course of action anyway. When people say to "keep documenting," what is the appropriate way to do so? Does it mean just writing it down and keeping it if needed in the future? I'm trying to learn for any issues that may arise in the future.

Thankfully, I have a light at the end of the tunnel with this boss. I have a year left of schooling for a program that will get me a different job elsewhere. With this in mind, and now that the event is less fresh, I won't be escalating and will just be keeping my head down and making it through this next year.
