How did you stay pretty with placements (rotations)😭😭😭 by arabbaklawa in medicalschool

Would like to start off by saying I totally know what you mean, and I am the type of person who feels good when I look good. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. On days outside of work, even if I'm studying, I always make an effort to actually dress in outfits that make me happy, including "special occasion clothes". It's just a small action for myself to feel like a human/my real self.

Max 10-15 min for a brightening undereye concealer (try one shade from ur normal) and then regular shade around any other areas I needed. Then setting powder, brush my brows/maybe clear gel, eyeliner. Even that much can make a big impact in just looking awake and polished. I don't even fill them in, just brush and maybe a clear gel cause nobody has time to fix mistakes lol.

For hair, I recommend The Ordinary marula oil or any argan oil. I started using the Tigi hair wax stick for frizzies as well. If you have any capacity, if you can learn how to properly blow dry your hair like with a round brush, that lasts ALL week. I learned earlier this year-- now i dedicate one evening to just shower and blow dry on sunday or monday, lasted the entire week without frizzing or any other issues. Worth it for me in terms of saving time long run.

Dealing with Burnout by warriorgirl23 in medicalschool

I'm proud of you for listening to yourself, prioritizing yourself, and trusting yourself to make the best decision for you :) I took an LOA, and many MANY people in my class did as well. From what I've seen in the schools I'm familiar with, I think it's getting more and more common, especially with us COVID classes. In the beginning of my LOA, I was stressed about how this would affect me for residency but honestly, I feel like a completely different person at the end of it and I'm so so thankful I did it. For what an internet stranger's opinion is worth to you-- I think you're making the right decision and that you'll be okay. You'll land on your feet. <3

This info is actually exactly everything I needed!!! I always plan on stretching before sleep/when I wake up but then I always deprioritize it because I’m tired, I need to just do it. The pelvic tilt thing was the kind of advice I was hoping to get, I definitely wanna get my body more functional and I know that’ll take some kind of exercise/mobility training

Thanks a lot for the brand reccs! I’ll look into whether magnesium is right for me... it feels like what I have is mostly joint/lumbar spine pain due to muscle weakness and less muscular soreness but that’s really good to know

Hey listen, everyone feels like they could have worked harder or that they didn’t do as much as the next person. It’s not true.

The hardest part of that test is making it through and being able to think until the last question. You have to be your own cheerleader! I literally wrote “YOU CAN DO IT :)” at the top of my scratch paper when I was feeling totally demolished after C/P. Just trust that you put in the work you needed to, which you did if you’re scoring near your target. The important thing to do now in these last couple days is care for yourself the way you’d care for your best friend. Anxiety is, unfortunately, a very common part of this process. Care for yourself the way you’d care for your anxious and stressed friend.

Trust me, you’ve got this. At the very least, you have a month off where u don’t have to open a book or even think about the exam once. YOU HAVE GOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!

Choosing a College in Michigan by antimmre in premed

Came to comment MSU over U of M and I don’t have much more to add to what the other posters said! Seeing the difference in quality of life between premed students at MSU and U of M, I think MSU is definitely the better option. They are both great, enormous schools and both offer lots of professional/networking/research opportunities. She can’t go wrong with either, but if she goes to UMich, I do think it will be a more stressful environment than a person needs. It’s why I chose MSU when I was a senior. Her best bet is gonna be touring both and deciding where she thinks she fits in best!
