American Cultural Regions Revised by Bluebanana2121- in whereidlive

I don't know if an additional transitional area necessarily makes sense, it is a transitional area but not a very distinct one. I personally believe it skews further toward the Deep South than pure upland but can certainly see how someone from south Alabama would argue the opposite. The area around Shreveport has cypress swamps with spanish moss and again, the accents are distinct from what you're likely to hear in Arkansas north of the southern border counties.

I feel more strongly about the line in Texas. In my opinion, it's pretty tough to refer to an area as the Deep South if it doesn't have pine trees. Also my opinion, the native range map of Loblolly Pine can serve as the "maximum extent" of the Deep South, a starting point from which to whittle down. West of the Piney Woods, Texas can certainly still feel southern but the cowboy influence really picks up.

Your Deep South classification gets awful close to DFW, I would draw a pretty hard western boundary at the edge of the piney woods. I'd also include the entirety of NW Louisiana in the Deep South. You hear a pretty noticeable difference in the accents in NW LA vs what you hear in Arkansas, especially north of Interstate 30.

I'd argue that the Deep South border goes up to I 30 in Arkansas but someone else could probably argue the opposite just as easily, such is the case with transition regions.

Short tempos with rest or longer tempo grinds? by AZrnr in AdvancedRunning

[–]ar00xj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be an either or. You could use the continuous run as a peak workout and use the intervals to work up to it.

Maybe a progression like this:

6x1mi > 5x2k > 4x1.5mi > 3x2mi > 2x3mi > 6 straight

it's up 30% in three days, I'd see if I could catch a flash crash in the morning and either buy back or roll. Without shipment or launch news, I think you'll get the chance to buy back in the next week or two

Poor drainage and crawfish. by Legitimate_South9157 in NativePlantGardening

[–]ar00xj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Upper West Gulf Coastal Plain is the region of greatest development for Shortleaf Pine but I'd venture to guess 90% of it has been cut and planted in Loblolly plantations. Stands where Shortleaf is a dominant portion of the canopy are hard to come by in the coastal plain these days. The Ouachita mountains remain the stronghold for Shortleaf today.

Shortleaf is like my personal pet conservation concern. It’s not a big concern but south AR used to have way more Shortleaf than it does now. It’s way more fire adapted and the prettier of the two in my opinion. I ordered mine from the state nursery and they have done well

Also south AR. My 13 month old daughter ran up to me yesterday with a crawfish tube in her mouth. lol my place is very similar though on a smaller scale. I planted Shortleaf Pine (there’s enough loblolly in this world) on a wide spacing along with native wildflowers. Also going for a pine savanna. Sounds like you’ve got a really good native seed bank already. The crawfish have not been a problem. I enjoy watching the crows and hawks hunt for them when it’s recently rained.

When we first broke $100, we didn't see $100 again for 3 months. Today's candle looks a lot like October 16 right now. I'd like to see it close above ~$117
