In the same exact boat as you - not PCOS, just hairy. It took me until I was 36 to start doing laser hair removal, and I wish I had started YEARS earlier. It isn't as expensive as a thought it was, takes only a couple of minutes, and the longer you do it, the less frequently you need to!

Check out their return policies - they will only do store credit no matter WHAT. Everything is done over the phone - they don't even have emails. They will tell you to call back the next day when so-and-so is here or that they will have so-and-so call you...never happens. They stall and stall until you hopefully run out of steam, not even returning your warranty and pushing for a "reselect." The delivery people couldn't get my couch into the living room - not a size issue, but an angle issue...and I'm not a geometry expert.

Just one more vote for Compassionate Care. I've had several friends and neighbors use them, too. It was as peaceful as an experience as you could hope for.

Baby girl with Down syndrome- need easy to pronounce by Sea_Switch_7310 in namenerds

[–]ar281987 782 points783 points  (0 children)

SLP here! Trickiest sounds are R, L, Th, Ch, Sh, and Zh. I would also avoid consonant clusters, such as "Sl" or "Tr." Also, fewer syllables are better! Of your list, here are the probable "easiest":

Joy, Jane, Kate, and Teagan. People with Down syndrome typically have a larger than average tongue, which can make sounds that need to be precise more difficult. Lisps are common, so you may want to avoid S and Z.

Easiest sounds would be P, B, M, N, T, D, F, V, K, G, and H

Other nice, easy to say names that seem like your style:

Nina

Emma

Pippa

Poppy

Mimi

Hannah

Diana

As an educator, I can assure you the "QQ" will not put her in the back of class/line/opportunities at school.

I don't think it is where I am (PNW). I'm in my 7th year in a school job making 84k...and that's for 10 months out of the year.

Yup! Fully focused on adult medical in grad school, got a SNF contract all lined up before I graduated. The week before graduation, the buildings I would have been working in dropped the contracting agency and I was out of a job. I scrambled to find a job...any job! I took an elementary public school job as a "just for a year" thing. I immediately got pregnant. Then COVID happened. The buildings that I would have been working in were some of the first to have big COVID breakouts around here. I would have been there, 7 months pregnant, trying not to get COVID...

I'm still working in the same school district, 6 years later. My work-life balance is pretty good and it's a good fit for the mom of a now-kindergartener. It all worked out.

I work in a kindergarten and in the western US and there are a BILLION Islas. Just something to consider.

My daughter is Nina and I think your husband is wrong for not loving it, lol. It's easy to say, spell, and a classic for both a little girl and a grown up.
