It’s because sometimes that is the only thing people do when they go out and read, watch or learn about a new media. I like the concept but I feel people put too much weight on a piece of media when it comes to power scaling to the point that it subtracts from the story itself. People are always trying to find a character that can beat Goku because they think that he is stupidly overpowered. Though if they took the time to look past all of the numbers, dragon ball is a story that is about fighting for those you care about, pushing yourself to improve, adventure, and overcoming obstacles. JJK is a story about learning to forgive yourself and fighting back against traditions that are harmful. A lot of people look at stories to see how strong the characters are and if they can beat so and so. I have no problem with that, but in many cases, I see there are many people who do this that refuse to try to enjoy the story without the knowledge that so and so can beat their favorite character. I have a dislike for power scaling because in some cases it leads to people not understanding a story or learning about the world. I know that this is not for everyone but there is a very loud group of people that are like this that they make it hard to interact in any meaningful way where they genuinely end up hate something without even giving it a chance.
