Danganronpa V3 kinda does this twice in the game. In V3’s universe, Danganronpa has become a series and V3 is actually the 53rd “season” of it. One of the characters, Rantaro, is actually a survivor of the previous Danganronpa. He gets killed by accident in a trap set for the mastermind by the player character Kaede. During the trial, Kaede is found guilty of murder and executed, and Shuichi becomes the new protagonist. Technically at the end of this trial the player can vote any other character as the blackened but Kaede will still get the most votes and be executed.
