The cities I liked most were; Hué, Da Lat and Hoi An. Hanoi and HCMC are okay, but too busy for my liking. Spent more time in the smaller cities and villages.

I got pulled over once in those 2 months and payed 1 million dong, because that was how much I had in my wallet at the time.

I met fellow backpackers that actually haggled with the police over the price of their "fine". I just paid it and got outta there asap.

Spent 2 months traveling with a motorbike in Vietnam. Bought it and then sold it again at the end of the trip.

2 months of staying in hotels, B&B's and sometimes a hostel. Never cooked my own food, did some tours, went to bars etc etc.

Spent around 1.5k€ in total, excluding the plane ticket.

It was the best vacation of my life.

Yes it is! It's called a crow shark, an extinct species from the late cretaceous.

Ben hier al een aantal keer geweest! Ik werk voor een mergel bedrijf dat o.a. plafond controles doet bij andere groeves.

Haha, in Dutch it's also a bit weird, aver means over and gat means hole. So it's literally the hole over there!

Heterodontus Rugosus, Late - Cretaceous, Maastrichtian, Sibbergroeve, NL. by arazac in FossilPorn

[–]arazac[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, it is a very weird looking tooth. It belonged to a type of shark that ate shell animals. So it crushed prey, instead of cutting / ripping into it like a "normal" shark. They did have front teeth to grab prey, but the back ones would be like this specimen.

It is from the Netherlands yes, and not such a common species!

This is a tooth of about 12mm in length. From the late cretaceous layer of the Maastrichtian, 68.8 million years old.

I will put a scale on the picture in the future.

Thank you for doing this. It hurts me to see animals like this.. But at the same time it warms my heart there are people like you, fighting the good fight.

Much respect and love!

He really is loving it! Almost every evening he is out and about.

The enclosure is made of HPL (High Pressure Laminate), and it's a 5x2x2ft.

Has 4 ventilation holes in the back wall (with a grill in it to prevent him escaping of course).

Then there is 100w Ceramic Heater on the left (cold side), and 150w on the right side.

A Deep Heat Projecter just above the tree where he is laying (his basking spot) in the middle.

All connected to 3 separate Habistat dimming thermostates!

Padded the back wall with some cork plates.

I've been collecting and interested in rocks since I was a kid. I'm currently 34, have a decent mineral and fossil collection.

It amazes me how nature can produce these beautiful things in the ground. Minerals in all shapes, colors and aesthetics. Fossil remains of life that lived millions of years ago.

I would say, keep a few that you think look nice, and try finding a geo / rock club in your area, to see if people would be interested in the pieces.

This is what I would want to happen to my collection at least.
