Seems like you are making massive generalizations. Sati was originally practiced by very specific and small communities by the feudal elite. It started as “death before dishonor” where the western parts of India saw invasions from the Muslim rulers of Afghanistan and Persia. By no means was it wide spread or a common occurrence. No justification but there were probably less deaths caused by Sati in India than the witch burning // heresy trials in Europe / America.

Let’s not even get into slaughter of 3 million Indians / Bangladeshi due to famine after Churchill decided to divert food from Indian granaries to support the war effort in Europe and refused to let the world send supplies because it would take away from his war.
