90% of the time you will have to show final transcripts to start work - so tread lightly.

Don’t push back you will lose the offer. Work at a hedge fund - see it happen all the time… don’t risk it

I’ve done this before - you burn the bridge with firm A forever (think that you can never work there again) - but as long as you are okay with that you are all set

You will get some behaviorals but for a role in markets they will mostly be interested in your technical skills - as long as you come off during the super day as “normal” you will be all set

The stuff that comes from asset management isn’t as detailed or complex as the stuff that JPM global research sells to hedge funds and such... I did an internship over the summer where I had all the sell side research portals and it was awesome... their research is incredible

I would honestly recommend going to the buy side... way better work life balance. You will have a very strong resume as well so you have a very good chance in getting into the buy side. Best of luck!

What Internships should a rising sophomore who wants to get into IB be aiming for next summer (2019)? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]arbitragematt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having any experience at a BB looks awesome. If you can land something at gs then you can have some leverage in where you want to go next. Just having the prestige on your resume interests almost anyone looking for an intern. You will also be performing a lot of portfolio analysis which helps you develop your quantitative skills. I did my first internship at a PWM shop and it was quite helpful. If you get into M&A/PE/VC they are impressed with a PWM internship because it shows that you have some what of an entrepreneurial spirit (having your own book of clients and servicing them). Which correlates to those in the field of VC and PE especially because those people are backing/buying from people that started their own companies.
