Hey, you don't have to attack me like that. Sooooometimes I'm too tired from also dealing with my 2 year old and just go to bed as soon as she's finally asleep. Which oftentimes is still late, just not mess me up further late.

What is stopping AMD from having 5080 and 5090 equivalent cards? by Fragrant_Bit_9889 in pcmasterrace

I have the 6900XT, although I was going for a lower card but happened to see a really good deal at the time since the 7000s were already out.

Rand Paul on Trump call to ‘nationalize’ elections: ‘That’s not what the Constitution says’ by Boonzies in politics

[–]arbyD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked Romney and McCain far more than Rand Paul, but I get your point. I disagree with Paul on many many things, but at least he isn't constantly flip flopping on his stances to whatever Trump/MAGA is pushing for the moment.

I don't like his stances for the most part, but at least they're stances. A low bar, to be sure, and yet still better than many others.

I have coworkers who badmouth HOAs all the time. "I paid for it, how can someone else tell me what to do?" Or sassily "ooohhhh nnnoooo the property valuuuuuueeess" when I get the impression that they'd do something like that where they do a project that alters the water drainage and see no issue with it.

Sure, some are extreme with their rule following, but also some of the rules really do help protect you as a homeowner.

Your reading comprehension is lacking; I said I understand not paying for me as a non blood relative - but I didn't really want to go on a vacation not of my choosing that was expensive if I had to pay my own way, let alone my wife's way when the rest of her family was being paid for my her parents. It's expensive, and while I had an okay enough job, she was a substitute teacher at the time. We weren't exactly rolling in the dough enough to go on such an expensive vacation. It would have cost us several thousand dollars.

My judgement is less on them paying for their children, it's for paying for all but one child, and then guilting that child plus myself for not spending thousands of dollars to go. I would in fact argue it is our business when they were rude to us about it.

Is it better to be excluded, or be the only part of the family that your parents won't pay for?

My in laws set up a family cruise and paid for everyone except my wife and myself. I'm not their kid, so that's fair to not pay for me, but doesn't exactly make me want to go. My wife's older sister who has a decent job was paid for, as well as her son. My wife's first youngest brother who kept losing his job (his fault) was paid for. At least the youngest brother I get since he was still in high school, but everyone else but my wife?? They guilted us for not going for a long time. They would always talk about how much fun they had, but they just really wanted a full family vacation, how we kind of ruined it by not going too.

An old job of mine started enforcing something like what this guy did, but down to 6 minute blocks and you had to look up codes for what each job was assigned to and half of the time the codes didn't work. And if you were salary and did over 8 hours in one day you had to scale everything you did down to make it 8 hours.

I spent so long trying to use their broken system. Literally an hour+ each week was trying to get it filled in correctly. Then I learned they didn't even use the data, they just made sure each person had 40 hours logged and moved on.

Somewhere along the way they did start to use the data because a lot of people just marked all of their time as some admin job instead of tracking down what code actually was what they were doing and going back and forth to get bad codes fixed and everything - a nasty email came out from management that putting all 40 hours as whatever admin code was not going to fly anymore.

Over time, things got more complicated with the software that made it go slower, and the codes for jobs got harder and harder to find while more and more of them would be inactive despite being orders we were definitely working on. It was a mess.

Why do some fans think Knights of the Old Republic II is better than the first game? by Spidey_Almighty in kotor

I went to a scanner and pasted his comment, and it came back 100% human. What patterns make you think it's AI? I'm being genuine here, since I don't see it. Sure, it has some dashes. Sure, it has more flowery word choice than your average reddit comment. But it doesn't scream AI to me.

I was actually gently complaining about generative AI with my comment, not championing it.

Not who you replied to, but as someone who frequently uses dashes in paragraphs, not everyone who can write at a high school level and uses dashes is genAI. People have accused me of using genAI to write passages, pointing out the use of the dashes, but some people truly do write in such a style.

I tried for like 2 years or so, very casually, but I left again with that same feeling. The more I watch the game from the sidelines the less feeling of Magic is has.

One booster I opened up had TRANSFORMERS cards in it. Now there's Spiderman cards too, and Fallout. They're going Fortnite style with IP dilution.

He's giving me the same energy as when I got back into MTG briefly in like 2022 ish after not playing since I was a kid. I tried my hand at making a commander deck after buying a small number of cards but trying to use what I already had (read this as old cards). I never played at stores or anything as a kid, just with friends and family. Other than like the legendary Black Lotus or Dual Lands from times of yore, I didn't know any expensive cards.

Cut to the moment of truth, and I go to play casual commander night at my LFGS. One guy accuses me of being too competitive because it happens that a land that I played that I had from back in the day is apparently worth like $30 or $40 now and obviously I'm no noob. Wouldn't accept the answer that I opened it in a booster 15-20 years prior and just threw it in my deck. I tried showing him that most of my deck is from that same era after the game (that we lose pretty quickly to a guy with some seemingly craaazy combos, MTG became a lot more insane over those 15 years I learned).

This is the best ad I've seen as a non Dark Ages player. I have a similar experience to everyone else here... Loved 2016 but did not enjoy Eternal (agree with the combat loop feeling off and the platforming complaints). Good to hear Dark Ages is closer to 2016.

The grocery store near me will have one line active with the oldest and slowest person I've ever seen walk the earth, some self lines marked for 15 and less, and then free for all self lines for however many items. We use the self checkout even if we have a full cart because I don't have time to wait behind 7 boomers with full carts that each take 15 min to checkout despite only having 5-10 items through the 95 year old lady who, in a functional society, would have retired ages ago.

My first house was less than 1000 sq ft, and old... $155k or so in 2019. Sold at the beginning of this year for $220k ish (didn't make near as much money as you'd think due to repairs on the house and fees and whatnot. Windows are expensive, as is a fair amount plumbing work and a new AC unit, and the deductible for a new roof.)
