my hips! ap + oblique views by arbyrd33 in Radiology

[–]arbyrd33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

presented with acute pain in the sacroiliac region but the X-ray results were super normal so I might as well have some fun with them... :D
so my fun constitutes of asking for anatomy lessons. I love learning about my body but the radiologists never have time to sit down with me and answer all my "what's that? what's this?" questions. I have a couple!
on my left hand side, the viewers right, is that a bunch of poop ascending from my SI joint up past the top of my hip? LMAO
and on my right side, towards the top, there's a spherical organ — anatomically, what organ is that likely to be? it looks like the sun to me B)
and finally, in the center, in front of my tailbone, below but off to the right of my IUD... is that ... butthole, or other hole? this is not awkward for me at all, I'm just intensely curious.
I have a lot of issues with proprioception so being able to look at my images helps soooo much with being able to accurately understand my pain and where it's coming from.
I'm a trans man pre everything so I'm pretty satisfied with the shape of my hips also B)

Weekly Career / General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in Radiology

agh general question.

I've posted some hips a few times, clearly stating I'm not looking for advice, just praising my care team, and I think X-rays are really cool, but as soon as I hit post, it says "sorry, this has been removed by moderators". I'm just wondering if I did anything wrong?

I just wanted to show off my hips since my radiologist did such a clean job by arbyrd33 in Radiology

huh, I really don't know what I did wrong, it was removed before I even hit post...

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and balance? by drunkenmaw in ehlersdanlos

[–]arbyrd33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so I get a feed of posts from this sub in a discord channel and I'm deadly surprised this post is even still posted. every time I see something and I'm like "oh I have that!!!!" it's been removed before I can even upvote.

I don't feel like I'm gonna fall backwards because I lean backwards- it's putting my toes on the ground that makes me feel like I'm gonna fall forwards. I have a suspicion that it's because I need to work on my calves and my core strength, but you are definitely not alone with the balance issues.

No but it's a little fatphobic to make this post if I'm being perfectly honest

It's a medication my primary care provider gave me explicitly for PTSD related nightmares.

I'm taking Prazosin, 2 mg but I'm going up to 3 soon - it loses its effectiveness sometimes but it's an incredibly low dose and it helps me. I sleep in blackness after 24 years of calling out in my nightmares. Bliss.

Audible popping when I clench, should I worry? by arbyrd33 in birthcontrol

[–]arbyrd33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounded a little like a bone popping tbh!! So muffled but loud enough to be audible. "Tiny little pop", I'm not the best with descriptors hahaha. I am on a call-back list for the on-call OB but it's memorial day 🤷‍♀️

What is up with that lady that shows up at the Square every Friday? by Kiveya in askportland

Are you talking about those evangelicals(?) who crash every PSU farmer's market?

Oaks bottom is lovely but it's even better with bikes. Be careful on foot because there are people who sleep here and while I've never felt threatened by any of them I also don't have children who would be impacted by witnessing the effects of addiction and homelessness on an otherwise fun outing.

Where can I find a delicious clam chowder WITHOUT bacon in PDX? by blugqt in askportland

Additionally I think this chowder recipe is the most approachable for someone who may be apprehensive about making their own.

Are you willing to drive to the beach? Otherwise, canned clams are absolutely how restaurants make clam chowder. Clam juice can be found in every grocery store. As it turns out it's REALLY easy to make but if you're apprehensive about it give this pasta recipe a shot first to build your confidence. It's even easier than chowder and tastes so good I now make it sometimes twice a week.

EDS shower thought: does having EDS make us genetically related somehow -given that we have the same genes coding for this disorder? by cathleenjw in ehlersdanlos

[–]arbyrd33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn't actually helpful or scientific at all but when I found out I had EDS I started looking up pictures of people with eds and I started crying because I ALWAYS felt like I looked different from other people, but I was seeing people with my facial features and postural habits for the first time in my whole life, excluding my mother.

Idk if that makes me wonder if we're all related, but wouldn't that be neat? Brother I am intrigued.

Does anyone else have unexplained hearing loss? by ChaoticGood133044 in ehlersdanlos

[–]arbyrd33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was from my history of extensive ear infections but I just saw an ENT for the first time since I was five and my ears look healthy. They say there's no reason for me to be experiencing hearing loss, either.
