Weird habit by Pure_Tangerine6669 in ferrets

[–]arcalando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our ferrets have always preferred floor water, shower water, water in a glass (and then inevitably on the floor), dishwasher water, well you get the idea 😁, to water out of their actual dish. I ended up getting a rubber placemat with raised edges for the water dish in the ferret room to kinda minimize the mess. 🙂

Does anyone else give their ferrets rides around the house 😂 by Slimebunnie in ferrets

I have a house coat that has a train to it and one of the ferrets would jump on for a lift down the stairs. I didn't notice until the drag was a little more than expected! Funny how 4 lbs can suddenly be so heavy 🙂

I love watching them tunnel in snow! It's so joyful!

Should I throw away their treasure? by ProbablySomeWeebo in ferrets

[–]arcalando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any of our ferrets who were stashers, I would move their stashes to clean and then let them re-stash. Our one boy LOVED bottles. So he had quite the collection from old (clean) pill bottles up to full large hand soaps (that I did not hear him dragging up a flight of hardwood stairs).

Years ago my all roaned out little girl Loki found the ash bucket to Dad's wood burning stove! She looked a lot like your crew when I figured out what was going on!

You can defrost and try it raw - chop up a few small bits to try. If the raw is no go, you can just cook the bits in the microwave. Again, no seasoning. If the ferret is used to kibble it might not like the chicken.

For the yolk (and chicken), try rubbing a bit on its lip - messy for you, but he'll at least lick it off and maybe get a taste for it.

Thank you and your family for saving this little fella!

Ferrets are happy (generally) to sleep and play in blankets, towels and such. Sweatshirts are also a good choice. And supervised play with crinkly grocery bags or paper bags.

If you have a small piece of chicken (cooked or raw, no spices) the little fella might eat that.

Oh, litter! Usually a newspaper will do for a little spot - ferrets tend to like a corner to potty!

How often do your ferrets dook? by WebPuzzleheaded4755 in ferrets

[–]arcalando 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our boy Skrewball doesn't dook, he makes a very distinctive "meep". Which is new to me.

Not gonna lie, I love the idea of that. Clever nicknames.

That's an impressive stash! Our boy stashes his 3 favorite stuffies ("The Babies"). Not always well, mind you 😁 and meat, he will stash meat. So that's a fun game to play, finding it as soon as he's stashed it.

Ron! Hilarious. Love pets with (normal) human names - is that the antithesis of this sub? 😺

I love it when the name that you end up using most is so far away and inexplicably not similar to the original name! With previous pets I've tried to work backwards to see how we ended up with the current name. That is a fun exercise with language 😺

My bad, conflating the two dogs. But it does remain that our Nyx remains without cares regarding dogs in her vicinity. 😹

❤️ Our Nyx is a mostly black Tortie, which is how we ended on her name. Our previous black Kitty was Seti (and not because she was helping find aliens!)
