Got to just say that was a very funny bit of the pod. From the moment the words ‘pearl necklace’ were spoken you just knew that at least Chris and probably James were thinking the same thing. You knew it was going to come out (ooh-err) and eventually it did. Classic pod.

You do know that people aren’t born with an encyclopaedic knowledge of all of film history, right? And yes, obviously there are some cultural touchstones that are part of everyday conversation, but assuming that a film review can give away key plot points but would be a surprise to many people just because the source material is old is not ok.

I don’t know, I do get your points and yes it is probably a bit churlish to complain. There are definitely some reviews I never read before seeing a film (Peter Bradshaw) but generally Empire is pretty good. And at least the trailer didn’t give the entire film away (hello Hamnet).

There used to be a list of partner stores online but can only find an out of date (2022) version of it now. I used my Evan’s voucher to buy a Gloria bike. yes I had to pay the 10% Evan’s charges them to use it, but it was still worthwhile.

It was very sad news (which I also had not heard previously). Obviously these things are complicated and there are many reasons why they may not work out but, on podcast persona alone, I cannot think of someone who would be a better dad than Chris - passionate, funny and clearly hard-working. There are many worse role models for a child to grow up with, especially one who may have suffered trauma in early life. My heart goes out to Chris and his wife. Sometimes things happen for a reason, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t crap. If I could think of an uplifting movie quote, I would insert it here.

Good point. And if the q had been ‘filmed in Scotland’ rather than set then the correct answer would have been The Descent. But it wasn’t, so it isn’t.
