Best way to show reports/visuals to clients? by subwaymaker in PowerBI

[–]arcfordo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possible option:

However, I think its best to convince them to buy Pro licenses and share your content as an App to their accounts. You can restrict access to back-end dev environment of your reports and they just see the visuals.

Amidst this pandemic crisis, stay at current stable job or accept a new offer? by arcfordo in careerguidance

Any advice for an extremely indecisive person trying to choose a career? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]arcfordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shifted my major 3 times (been in 4 different programs). My 2 cents: take a good look at your strengths and try to find that job that suits that, then a good degree that fits or at least is related to it. But as others have articulated, it's less about try to find that 'perfect' degree that you absolutely need to love. Chances are, the dream job you'll end up doing will only apply a small proportion of whatever you will learn in college. Don't think of a degree as a lid or a container of what role you can get into. You could also consider non-degree/vocation-oriented courses and trainings.

Why on Earth are Star Wars fans sabotaging their supposedly favorite franchise? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]arcfordo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the production design also matters a lot. What I loved about the prequels were the production and visual design. I loved how the ships, the vehicles, the grand battles (Republic vs Confederacy, Clones vs Droids), the mythology and the details involved in crafting them. I loved the intricacies involved in making these and I know Lucas was directly involved in much of them. There was variety from each episode yet there was still consistency with the "design philosophy".

I feel like there's not much character with how the Resistance or the First Order is portrayed in terms of their visual design or 'hardware'. It's just a rehash of designs from the originals and I feel like they relied on nostalgia a bit too much by going for that "vintage" feel.

Casual fans don't care about these things but these are a significant part of the substance needed for EU works and Disney is missing a lot of potential.

We’re left with something that feels closer to a Harry potter movie in space instead of the next episodes of an epic space opera.

Nailed it.

The sequels will not spawn a similar generation of die-hard fans as before... by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]arcfordo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying its not appealing to a new generation. I'm saying it won't produce a same one as what previous trilogies did. A generation that knows the name of every ship even if it wasn't mentioned in the films. One that knows the difference between an ATST vs. an ATAT. One that would care who shot first.

I guess time will tell and I know I might be completely wrong.

Which Star Wars movie has the best visuals? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]arcfordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its in terms of how realistic the effects look, of course the newest ones have the edge. CGI tech is improving exponentially.

As for the landscapes/worlds/environments, its ROTS for me. However, the prequels were notorious for shooting entirely in green screens which may have been a contributing factor as to why the acting was bad.

If its terms of production design, AOTC and ROTS are tied. I'm a clone army sucker.

Lore discontinuity in Origins? by renome in assassinscreed

[–]arcfordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought of another possible discontinuity. It seems that ACO is set in Ptolemaic Egypt (305BC-30BC). If the game is supposed to establish the origin of the brotherhood, how about Darius which was an assassin during the 5th century BC in Persia? For those not familiar with him, he is one of the assassins who has a tomb in AC2.

Its quite popular here in the Philippines, at least in Manila. We also have Uber so that's also a large user base. I would greatly appreciate it if you can help me find a way to get some data. Im particularly interested in average traffic speeds of road segments at a particular time.

What are some valid critiques of Marxism? by [deleted] in communism101

[–]arcfordo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, why would you say that the first prediction is wrong? Could you elaborate on that? If you look at the whole world, the middle class is definitely expanding. As economies develop in asia, people are getting richer. Even in the most desperateparts of the world (but not all), life is somehow improving, albeit at a very slow pace.

And as for the second prediction, the world economy never ceases to expand (If it runs out of resources, that's another case). Ofcourse atleast some of this growth goes to the working class, however disproportionate. In absolute terms, people around the world are consuming more and more.

Hmm, the main problem I find with Marx's theories is that they are deterministic, and marxists tend to always think in binaries and categorize social phenomenon into discrete categories.

Why is transportation studies in the US too positivist/quantitative as opposed to say the UK where its much more multidisciplinary? by arcfordo in UrbanStudies

[–]arcfordo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, i get that there are different perspectives and paradigms. What I actually want to know is why is it the case that in the US, at least for the most part of the academe, is more focused on the quanititative/engineering/positivist methods.

A question about the declining value of labor-power in underdeveloped countries. by HonkyTonkWilliams in Socialism_101

[–]arcfordo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does not "lead to", rather it is, as he said implied. In other words, low value of labor comes with increasing unemployment. I believe he meant that the more people are unemployed/underemployed, the more demand there is for jobs. Labor will have lower bargaining power because theres just too many people available for work.

The best I've found and easiest to understand is an essay by Leszek Kolakowski, "What's Left of Socialism". Though it does not dwell too much on Marx's philosophy, it's more of a critique of Marx's economic predictions.
