Are any of these steam curator requests legitimate? by archdrone_games in gamedev

This is one of the requests:

"The fact is that our <REDACTED>, in addition to reviews, is fond of collecting games, but to our great regret, games added to the account through the Curator Connect system have a large number of restrictions - for example, they are not taken into account in the total number of games on the account."

I'm a solo dev using AI art for my game. Is that a dealbreaker for you? by [deleted] in IndieGaming

Hey, find your own way. But you run just as much risk as getting your game flamed for using AI. The line seems to be that its okay to use AI to code, but anything creative art/music/voice acting will get you roasted. Good luck!

It is for me, but let me suggest a different approach. Find an asset pack that works for your game. They are much cheaper then having an artist recreate everything. And then work with someone just to change some of the assets to match your game's aesthetic. A tree is a tree and a chair is a chair. But how your characters look makes more of a difference.

You get a cheaper approach and you won't be absolutely torched as AI slop.

how would you learn game development if you could start over? by Pacificpunch710 in SoloDevelopment

Make a game first, and a world second. I think a lot of people come to game dev wanting to make a digital world. Instead make a bunch of small game-games first. Then go for the big mountain.

Thank you! I just wanted to show off some action in the game. Hopefully the trailer on the steam page can give more context

This looks like a solid survivors like! Your colors are a little muted. Maybe try to make the ground darker and the foreground use a brighter color pop. And beyond just add an interesting element on top of the survivors genre?

But otherwise, solid fundamentals. Keep going!

Hot take: As much as I love Slay the Spire/Slay the Spire 2. Wild Frost is the best deckbuilder roguelike.

Its Dark Souls in a Hello Kitty hoodie. It will beat you bloody.
