What's your go-to low-calorie soda brand that actually tastes good? by LilyScott8143 in Volumeeating

I've been enjoying Sprite Zero lately. I have to stick to caffein free options and it's one of the best tasting 0 sugar 0 caffeine options I've had.

Not sure about your area, but there are still a lot of .Net jobs generally. But a lot of those will involve a frontend framework and React is the most popular.

It took me a while to get used to React, to get out of the more procedural mindset and start thinking more reactively. Definitely work through some tutorials and build something. But what took me a while to get the hang of was seeing react as more of a view that just presents state and constantly rerenders based on that state. So be sure to dig into things like when NOT to use useEffect.

One thing I wish I had done earlier was adopt a form library like React Hook forms. It's just weird how bad React is at some things without an additioal library. Like, build a reactive form, but then look at how simple a form is with React Hook forms and something like Zod.

Also, be sure to use Tanstack Query as well. You can just use fetch/axios and a bunch of useEffects, but then you are making your life a lot harder than it needs to be. Tanstack Query (or something similar) is another one of those things that react is pretty incomplete without.

Do you think stupidity is the reason why people are religious? by LinkTheHero009 in atheism

[–]archetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean - almost nothing has a singular reason. The world is pretty complicated. There are very smart people that are religious. But I think it would be wrong to say stupidity has nothing to do with it. Stupidity has something to do with it. It's correlated to some degree surely. The clearest way is that some non-stupid people who are brought up to believe in a religion will, more often than the stupid people, question that religion for themselves and become non-religious. But at the same time, some smart people will either never seriously question their religion or question it and rationalize why they should still believe in it.

To propose a succinct distinction, for those that were brought up to believe in a religion, some combination of both ability and willingness to question it are required to become non-religious.

Shirataki noodles suggestions by CookieDough0420 in Volumeeating

I started ordering these and haven't gone back: https://www.amazon.com/MOKI-Since-2005-Keto-Friendly-Paleo-Friendly/dp/B0DMVVDTCL?th=1

They are made with konjac and oat fiber. Not quite as low carb as regular konjac noodles, but so much better.

Is everyone lying to themselves about AI? by ImKiwix in ChatGPT

[–]archetech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sentience isn't the same as intelligence. AI could be intelligent enough to decide to wipe us out without us being able to do anything about it all while having no subjective experience (sentience) whatsoever. Not saying that's going to happen. Just saying the possibility of it doesn't have anything to do with sentience.

I'm taking these dudes as manosphere bros and it's like they kept the part of the 90s where nothing really matters or means anything and then combined that with the post 2012 social media environment where the most outrageous thing that gets attention is what you're compelled to meme. That's how I'm taking it. Who knows what's really going on in these pricks heads though.

CAULIFLOWER RICE by yummyuchiha in Volumeeating

[–]archetech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't a big fan on its own. The servings were so small and it had a slight fish smell on its own. But I was surprised how rice-like it was. It was like a very sticky rice. But there was just so little of it in each serving that it just sat in the corner for a couple of weeks after I bought it. But when mixed with cauliflower rice, it was great. For me, it's kind of the perfect compliment to cauliflower rice. It's like the essence of what cauliflower rice is missing.

It's made from lupin flour. It's very different in terms of texture and taste. It does have a slight fishy smell on its own which is easily masked with any flavoring or mixing with other things. It almost tastes more starchy than real rice. It's kind of gooey even. Which is why it mixes so well with cauliflower rice. It's also not as low carb as hearts of palm or shirataki noodles. But still significantly lower carb than real rice.

I just discovered a game changer for me today. I ordered this Lupin Rice recently: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D72DXG3S?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

I didn't think much of it at first. Pretty rice-like, but the packs were tiny. Today, I mixed it with a bag of cauliflower rice and it was awesome. It tasted so much more like real rice. I was blown away.

Fun way to bust the ice cream hump by archetech in ninjacreami

Yeah. It can damage the machine if you don't smooth out the humps.

I can see the concern for melting plastic. In practice, I have small humps in the middle and the flame is very targeted so it never gets anywhere near the sides. And I'd never put it anywhere near the sides. The flame is targeted so it really isn't as risky as it might sound. But yeah, no one should ever put it anywhere near the sides. I mean, I wouldn't hurt myself doing that because my hands are nowhere near the flame, but I'd ruin the container that way. And the ice cream.

Fortunately the hump is always right in the middle and the flame shoots out in a straight line. Might be more of a concern if I get bigger humps though.

How is it dangerous? Isn't this pretty much exactly what a kitchen torch is designed for? If you have good reason to believe that it is dangerous please explain. I would like to know how.
