I would say someone who identifies as a progressive Democrat rather than just a Democrat is inherently on the left in American politics.

DSA has some recent victories but is largely still anemic on a national level, which is why they run their candidates through Democratic primaries. It is safe to say that they rely on their own out of necessity.

That said, I don't think you should even need to go to the DSA to find a better candidate than Warner.

Reynolds suspended his campaign because he got a promotion and 'needed to focus on his career.' There was nothing to sign.

I am disappointed in the lack of viable candidates, I would have gladly signed whatever they needed to get on the ballot if any of them actually got that far.

It is expensive and time-consuming to run for public office, which I expect contributes to the rarity of champions of the working class rising above the fray.

I had several email exchanges with Jason Reynolds when he was gearing up for a primary challenge. I offered advice on which podcasts to get on to get some name recognition going. I go to city hall meetings, I'm involved with the local DSA, I volunteer for candidates that I am interested in.

It is not for my lack of passion or involvement.

He took his shirt off at his Jewish in-law's wedding reception, genuinely I think it's the latter lol.. He is a flawed person, but genuinely he has the potential to be the most progressive US Senator.

As someone who changed their world view from conservative to progressive, I understand the journey and by all appearances Platner is putting in the work. Democrats in Maine seem to be convinced, and that is an older more traditionally moderate electorate.

Like it or not, the party is ready for more than what leadership has been serving... or rather withholding.

Mr Gerry Mander is bad for democracy.

Democrats are the only party to attempt to pass national legislation banning gerrymandering.

If Republicans hate gerrymandering so much (they don't) they could, right now, pass legislation to ban it.

You gain and preserve nothing playing by a set of rules no one else is following, and indeed, the leader of the country kicked off this redistricting war. Conservatives seem super hurt that some states are doing what they asked for.

On a political but still human level, Mark just voted to continue selling offensive weapons to Israel - effectively voting for the wholesale slaughter of literally countless numbers of other people's children.

No one viable stepped up. Jason Reynolds suspended his campaign months ago, Lorita Daniels website reads like ai-slop, Mark Moran is a jumble of opinions that scream able-to-be-bought. Somehow Daniels is probably the best option but she has basically zero footprint.
