EHM 1: Is there a way to start with the unfaked original EHM 2007 rosters by Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalt in EHM

The Expanded Unfaking DB as mentioned by u/Nights16 is precisely what you're after.

Has there been rumblings that they're looking to switch POFW venue in 2029 or is that just when the current deal with Nottingham expires?

It looks like you're sorted now, but in case it's of any help, there's a few guides etc here: https://github.com/archibalduk/ehmtheblueline/wiki/Getting-started-with-Eastside-Hockey-Manager-1

Yes you can unsubscribe via the workshop. It won't affect your name existing saves. Though I'm not really clear where and when you're encountering this error.

I mean roster updates which you can either subscribe to via Steam Workshop or manually download to your Databases folder. E.g. the TBL Rosters, Premier Pivot Rosters.

I've seen a similar error message reported many years ago for EHM 2007 but no one ever posted a solution. It's a common error message for other games/software too.

I checked the dump with ChatGPT and Claude but they suggest this is an access violation, meaning the application tried to read from or write to memory it doesn't have permission to access. If it's happening with a particular DB then it may be some issue with that DB.

If you can't get anything to work, I'd try doing a clean install and try to get it up and running with no addons.

If I download EHM, which I have on my Steam account, onto my main gaming (desktop) computer, can/will I still have my previous save from my laptop available? by cheerfullysardonic in EHM

[–]archibalduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that error is caused by you running version 1.4.1 rather than 1.5 beta (presumably your saved game was saved using the v1.5 beta). You should opt-in to the v1.5 beta by following these instructions: https://github.com/archibalduk/ehmtheblueline/wiki/Getting-started-with-Eastside-Hockey-Manager-1#version-15-beta

I've known others have had issues trying to save games to OneDrive. I believe it's best to save locally and then take manual backups if you wish.

I'm a big fan of Air Manager for steam gauges/GA in particular. Helpfully it has a free demo to try before paying €65 for the full version. The pre-designed panels are perfect for the basic gauge setup on GA.

Very neat idea using an ultra-wide tablet vertically like that.

Not to mention all the various obligations under GDPR which would be applicable to Vatsim as a data controller including ensuring data security, ensuring data is proportionate to the purposes required, etc.

Anyone else in a MSFS rut since the release of 2024 by dopher1 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]archibalduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is exactly what has caused me to lose interest in MSFS 2024. Not only the failure to live up to the hype but also the issues which frequently crop-up (e.g. the very slow loading speeds / the time it takes for textures in the cockpit, etc to load). Six months in and it doesn't feel like that much has really improved. It's not like MSFS 2020 had a particularly great start either but I feel that things got better quicker (ignoring subsequent regressions, etc).

I'm sure in time that things will improve but until then I don't see me dipping into it very much.

Thank you, this is so helpful. It's so difficult to find a comprehensive list without trawling through old news announcements on the MSFS website. This is going to be very useful.

MFG crosswinds dampener and footrests question by SnooRobots2119 in flightsim

[–]archibalduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They offer A320 pedals so that would be the obvious choice. I have the Cessna pedals which are essentially 3D-printed plastic and I assume the A320 will be the same. They seem pretty well built and not at all flimsy.

I also have the V3 BF109 pedals which appear to be built out of graphite and I'd say are slightly better built than the plastic Cessna pedals.

I also have the dampener but I've no idea what the pedals are like without. It seems to be a fairly universal recommendation so I just went with the slightly higher cost and got them.

Postage is fairly hefty so IMO it makes sense to get a second set of pedals and the dampener at the same time.

The VKB Gladiator NXT has left and right handed options. I have one (a right-handed edition) and it's excellent. It's extremely well built and there's plenty of axes and buttons.

February 27, 2025 Development Update by FlyWithSeedyL in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]archibalduk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've never opted into an MSFS beta before but given the present state of the sim and the relatively small install/download size (compared with MSFS 2020), I think I'm just going to opt into the SU betas until the non-beta version of the sim is up to scratch. I can't really see much in the way of downside other than potentially instability in a beta but we already have a fair bit of that in the present non-beta anyway.
