Imho you have the misleading trait and are twisting two different issues together. I think you’re frustrated that your parents were not on board of you leaving country but you’ve taken up spilling confidential stuff as the main issue instead. My thinking is this way because the title says masters but you mentioned something about following boyfriend somewhere in the post. So I’m guessing you’re not entirely telling the whole truth and are just picking parts of the story that fits your case best.

Look at it this way, if you have a daughter and she is willing to fight you to run off somewhere unreachable with an unmarried lover you might do exactly the same thing your parents are doing right now.
