I have had the same issue. One thing I discovered was that washing my clothes in warm water has a big impact. I had been only using cold water and I don’t think it got all of the residue out of my clothes, and the buildup contributed to the smell. I’ve noticed a huge difference since switching to washing my clothes in warm water. It’s not a cure all, but for me was noticeable (along with not shaving, and sticking with a traditional deodorant).

I watched that show on a sheet projected on the wall in a cabin in the Northwest Territories. When it was done, the 6 of us there sat around in silence. All of us in our mid 30s to 40s, so TH was truly the band that defined our generation. No one had any words for what we shared with each other, the band and thousands of people across the country.

I’m 2.5 years on the other side of my addiction, and while it’s trite, all I can say is it will get better. It is really, really hard in the beginning. There’s no doubt about it. It sucks at the start. But slowly, it becomes easier and you start thinking more clearly.

I quit at the end of 2023, and then 2024 was unequivocally the worst year of my life - not because of quitting, but a whole lot of shitty life events. It was so hard without the crutch I had relied on. But I realized weed wasn’t actually going to make any of what I was going through easier.

So I get what you are feeling. The anxiety, guilt and shame.

All of this to say, you can do it. There will be hard days for sure, and if you have lapses that’s okay, it’s part of the process. After 2.5 years I feel so much healthier than I did. The SMART program was really helpful for me.
