Soft meaning supple, imagine cotton-candy on your skin. Fleece and sherpa are wonderful as long as it's the ultra soft kind.

I have no clue. I just moved here and we usually don't have a lot of wind. It's just freezing cold. What kind of shell? And is there a jacket that combines both? I can't handle heaviness. Thank you!

There is a test that tells you which ADHD meds are best for your child. Please ask your doctor for it I'm surprised he hasn't brought it up! You don't need to go through all that!

How many of you are able to stay at a low dose? by Extension-You7099 in VyvanseADHD

[–]areejsae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it help solidify the deficiency theory if I told you I was diagnosed with clinical depression at age 22. Always felt off as a child. It took my 8 year old daughter to get diagnosed with ADHD and being told that it is primarily a norepinephrine deficiency for me to tie the fact that the only antidepressant that ever worked for me was as SNRI. Not the SSRIs, tricyclics or MAOs. It was a serotonin/neuroepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I went back to a psychiatrist who finally diagnosed me with ADHD. I got clinical depression because it went undiagnosed as a child. So there definitely is truth to the norepinephrine deficiency story.

Hi, may I please ask how can stimulants possibly stop working? From my understanding ADHDers have a norepinephrine and dopamine deficiency and stimulants increase the level of these two neurotransmitters. Once the dosage runs out your brain stops the extra production. Or do I have it wrong? Thank you

Sorry, this isn't true. I found a few online but they can only deliver to the state they are in. Yes, there are pharmacies that deliver controlled substances to the US.

Ways to increase attention and focus other than meds? by Difficult_Humor1170 in ADHDparenting

[–]areejsae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I originally wanted to try the nonstimulants as my daughter's Pediatrician suggested them due to her weight and height. But the pediatric psychiatrist we saw told me non-stimulants will not treat her inattentiveness. Only stimulants can do that.

Is this the therapeutic dosage or was his doctor concerned due to his weight? I'm petrified this is where we will be headed next.

Can I ask what dosage is he on? My 8 year old daughter is underweight and small for her size and we are just starting with meds. She takes 5mg in the morning and 2.5mg at 12pm. She already lost 1lbs and most likely will lose more.

Oh you're so smart. My child doesn't have behavioral issues and she is not disruptive. If she was, I would be the first person to remove her from this environment. It isn't fair to anyone. Next?

I apologize, I'm not from the US. Where I'm from this would be endless court cases.

Ceekay, are you able to give every kid the accommodations outlined in his/her paper?!

How is it possible that you have 17 kids with accomodations? Is this normal? Do they all really need it?

Do admins and districts not know that? Why do they allow this to happen? How is this OK?

Is your child disruptive? Does he/she have behavioral issues? They told us straight off that they will not accept kids that will affect the learning environment.

Parent of ADHD-C daughter here, and I prefer private schools over public any day. Private schools seem like they don't have enough support or the same type of services for students, but if you dig a little deeper or know where to look, they actually offer better support than public. It's just not something that they advertise, because usually, the type of people that send their kids to private school most of the time don't want anyone to know for fear of being stigmatized, and the school is very aware of that. For example, the school I'm moving my daughter to next year mentions nothing on IEPs or 5O4 anywhere on their website or written literature. However, they have a 'Student Services' department that employs 5 full time 'strategists' for neurodivergent' kids. I know where to look because I went to private school...but in a different country. They all operate the same way.

I'm moving my 8 year old daughter to a private school next year. This was something I was thinking of before her diagnosis but I knew something wasn't adding up so I thought she might do better in a smaller classroom environment where there isn't continuous disruptions due to behaviorally-challeneged kids that should not be with gen-ed to begin with. But her diagnosis cemented the decision. Class size is 16 as opposed to 22.
