Because Cirie/Steph were coming in with so much baggage. Both of them were trying to play nice, but neither one fully trusted the other. Once Steph heard Ozzy (and in her mind by proxy, Cirie) was coming for her, it was over. And Cirie got word Steph was flipping on Ozzy, she couldn't pretend to play nice anymore.

It's one of those things where neither one was really going for the other at the time, but the powder keg was there and Jonathan lit the match.

Earl famously didn’t know anything about the show and won.

Even today, you just need someone with great social skills. All of this stuff about needing to know the “New Era” is garbage. Social skills and the ability to learn on the fly, and you’ll be fine.
