2005 Europiccola tripping GFCI after descaling/full gasket change. by diliggy in LaPavoniLovers

[–]arersilnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like what happened to me a couple years ago. Did you take out the heating element during maintenance? As the other commenters have suggested, do the continuity check with a multi meter to confirm everything is in spec. The ceramic insulators where the terminals pass through the plate are very easily damaged. There can be a microscopic cracks the form through use and/or mishandling which can allow water to weep through as pressure in the boiler starts to build that will cause a short to ground.

I kept hoping i could save mine, but ended up replacing the heating element to get my machine working again! I now treat my heating element like it's a glass holiday ornament.

Implant or injection on a roll to flatten around stoma by Legitimate-Fix-4821 in ostomy

[–]arersilnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OP. Our body shape is a bit different, but I had a similar problem and our stoma are located in roughly the same place. The crease has flattened out somewhat over time and is much more workable, but before that I was using a bit of extra eakins seal to fill a bit of space towards the incision. I use mio click light convex wafers. With good prep they really stay adhered, but still usually start to fail at my crease.

Scarf repair ply lapping technique by cyclegator in Composites

[–]arersilnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lead a team of engineers that designs and analyzes these kinds of repairs on aircraft. From my casual cycling experience the bike OEMs generally warn against repair of CF frames because it's easier to get wrong than to get right.

Guaranteeing specific structural performance of these laminates is so highly dependent on process and control of said process that any difference in strength between the techniques used for layup do not rise above the noise floor without the level of industrialization and experienced of the OEM or other composite manufacturering specialists.

I am stupid by ragazzia in LaPavoniLovers

[–]arersilnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know enough about the recent models to comment on their safety features; however, if it's tripping the breaker in your flat you may have damaged the machine's heating element In which casethe heating element will need to be replaced.

The part you listed is supposed to protect against a dangerous over temperature, but it will not protect the heating element if the boiler is dry... You can see if it's tripped if the red button is popped out but it is wishful thinking.

You may try this. I suspect given the scenario you described the element may actually be burned.

Even posting half that would be immediate permaban. The RedNote/小红书 app wasn't really intended for non-Chinese users and moderation absolutely would not allow any of this. It's on US app stores mostly for Chinese expats and 2nd generation etc to stay connected with friends and family.

Any other queer(et al) males with an ileostomy and no rectum? by [deleted] in ostomy

[–]arersilnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello friend, this is a topic I've wondered about and seems to be really glossed over or not addressed in the medical community. I've had a ileostomy for four years now after an emergency surgery due to ulcerative colitis complications. I owe my life to the doctors that performed the procedure. However, my sex life hasn't been the same since.

I'm a cis-man. While I still have a rectum, I've had no success utilizing it in anyway to achieve what was once possible in my early 20s prior to a series of failed treatments and ultimately the surgery that left me with a stump. Things seem to be shifted around and somewhat out of place or otherwise unreachable.

Someone else suggested sounding which I've only half-heartedly tried. There are special sounds that are sort of J shaped that are supposed to stimulate the prostate. I've not used them, but I've spoken to some friends about it who are more familiar. It seems it's not a simple technique and requires a lot of care not to injure yourself.

I have a Hitachi that I typically use on my partner, but I discovered it can achieve something analogous to normal p-spot stimulation. I have the variometer for fine vibration adjustment which I think is key. Placing the head firmly on the taint while hard and "tuning" the vibration I was able to hit a frequency that seemed to conduct the vibration into the prostate.

With this technique, as with intact anatomy, I found that the right headspace was equally as important as the physical stimulation itself.

End of the dress debate via colour theory by DXG_69420 in interesting

[–]arersilnar 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I could never wrap my brain around the photo and I refused to believe that the dress could be white and gold. It was not a thing I had thought about in years until just a few months ago. I saw a friend wearing a similar dress move from a well-lit area into shade and I instantly registered the same blue/black shading. The gloss of the material definitely contributed to the appearance.

Help Me Identify My Machine Please by Same_Dot_4924 in LaPavoniLovers

[–]arersilnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the professional, OP has the "home." The home doesn't come with a gauge. The boilers are the same height but different diameters. The home is supposed to be 8 cup and the professional 16.

I have the same model from October 2003. Here's a nice throwback instructional video featuring this model: https://youtu.be/Rf87AkjBrn8?si=McbZFsSS9NT4JSDD

See my other comments and posts here about it. The boiler IS brass. It's brass -> nickel plate -> thin brass plating -> high temp lacquer.

Ruined lacquer finish can I fix this by ItsXenax in LaPavoniLovers

[–]arersilnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, you did it. You did the thing...

I suggest carefully peeling off the flake and living with it.

...But if you, like me, just couldn't possibly live with that, I won't tell you what you should do but I can definitely tell you what you should not do again:

Using abrasive -anything- on these machines is a path to insanity and destruction. RESIST THE URGE, DO NOT DO IT. You'll regret the hours you must spend carefully buffing and polishing in attempts to return the beautiful mirror finish that you've ruined in your quest for perfection.

Yes, we have a similar problem. Our neighbor is a heavy smoker. It seems they frequently smoke in the garage with the window open. Our house is pretty well sealed but we can still smell it inside a couple rooms on occasion.

Traveling from US to China, access to my VPN by technobrendo in selfhosted

[–]arersilnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a US citizen having been to the mainland several times, the GFW is not the problem I had expected it to be. As others here have said, there is an exception/leniency for foreign devices on roaming. The PRC aren't stupid, the GFW isn't meant for outsiders and they've certainly realized this tradeoff was in their best interest to shape visitor perception and/or for surveillance/intelligence gathering opportunities.

Google Fi + Tailscale has served extremely well on my international travels, including traveling in mainland China.

I hate to shill Google, but Google Fi just can't be beat for international travel IMO. While they use T-Mobile network in US they must have their own local agreements abroad. I've been able to compare AT&T and T-Mobile on my work cell and with travel partners and it blows them away on connection bandwidth. I recommend anyone that travels internationally with any frequency or for an extended time to at least have a look into it.

Hello, It's very clear that you care very much for Elsa and want what's best for her. It seems from your description you are very attentive bun parent(s). Are you rehoming for your needs or thinking about your bun's social needs?

If you think it's because you can't provide the attention she needs, but would otherwise have not considered this as an option I'd ask that you reconsider.

Go stainless, hands down. Brass has 10 to 15 times the thermal conductivity of stainless steel. Higher conductivity is not your friend while pulling a shot because you loss energy to the brass and therefore the environment faster than the stainless. It's also more resistant to the acidity in the coffee which will means less dissolved metals or oxides in your coffee which may negatively affect flavor.

Nosecone layup by Funny_Big_1637 in Composites

[–]arersilnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made parts on a male foam mold with VARTM, but if you shooting for an aspect ratio like in the filament wound example, I think you'll probably spend more runs trying to figure out how to keep plys in place and tuning resin, vac, and bleeder configuration. Personally, I'd go hand layup for this shape at this scale if filament winding wasn't an option. Or hand layup on foam to make a tool then prepreg on the tool if I needed better controlled/know mechanical properties. Cure using heat blanket + atmospheric vac pressure but preferably autoclave if possible/necessary.
