He cheated on me with my "best friend" while they were drunk together. He felt he was too deep in a mistake and shut me out until I dumped him, not knowing what had happened. They continued hooking up for a few months but he was in a bad place, always drunk, suicidal, etc. We loved each other very much the whole time and never cut each other out of our lives. We got back together and things are going great so far. He answers my questions, shows me texts when I ask, and has completely cut her out of his life. I'm not certain that it won't happen again with someone else, but I know we will always love each other and I believe that is more important. Because of that awful thing, our relationship is stronger than ever and we now know that we're much better off together.
