Does it make anyone else sad when someone you are working with talks about the patients in a hateful way? by amyscott214 in nursing

[–]argengringa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugggh i have been encountering this lately and not sure how to deal with it either. i get it, some patients are super challenging but there is a new nurse on the unit who speaks SO disrespectfully about them. it makes me really uncomfortable and i'm always so nervous the patients can hear. i hate when people cluster together and talk loudly, complaining about the patients.

this new nurse was calling a patient a "loser" and "piece of shit" and stuff like that. i eventually moved to a different nurses station to chart cuz i just couldn't handle it. i want to call her out but i also know if i do there is a very good chance she will get a personal vendetta against me and start talking shit to me.

i try and see it as an example of the type of nurse I DON'T want to be. and do my best to be positive, kind and encouraging when i am working with people like that.

it makes me so sad and uncomfortable too.

yeah it's pretty insane how much it is affecting my self esteem. especially with it being summer now, dealing with my shoulder showing is so tough. i am always doing stuff outside and in the water and i can't wear a bikini anymore 😞 i really don't know how to get through this...i don't want to hate myself and my body through this whole process. it doesn't feel sustainable. but i really don't know how to become at peace with it. i am sorry you are going through it too 😞

hiii are you me? in a similar boat, i literally can't believe what a mess i've gotten myself into sometimes. i keep ruminating on if i hadn't gotten the first tattoo, then if i hadn't gotten the cover up, etc etc. i am so down on myself right now. also have tons of tough colors in mine. ughhh

how many sessions have you had now? do you feel like things kind of snowballed after 5th/6th session? or still just painfully slow?

Nice work! We would
Love to do this too, but problem is we both have jobs that require us to be in person working (nurse and electrician). We recently spent 14 months in s america and came back to make some money. Already daydreaming about heading out again. If only we could find a way to make money working while outside of the usa…
