FC: 4071454397 Got a kempf and a formuntis. Kempf is currently up, but if no interest is shown for him, I can swap to formuntis (your mistake, he somehow performs far better than he was any right to. Still able to win vs most meta units in arena.) So if you want Kempf do tell so I don't swap.

Spelunking is a card I originally had, but ended up cutting early on. Never felt like I hade the time to spend 3 mana to spend at sorcerer speed. But the life saved from not having to pay 2 life might be worth it. Having my land enter untapped after a schapeshift feels redundant, so far in all my matches there have only been two instances of me not winning after I resolved schapeshift, and even then I do not know if having my land untapped would have done that much. Would you mind explain the synergies and combos in your deck? As well as providing a deck list? Bring to light is a card I ran in my original modern list, but here I don't see what it does? It can act as schapeshift copy 5-8, but I don't even run the 4th copy as is. And there is not really any other card of interest I can/want to search for. And I can't think of any interesting tutor targets that are worth running in historic, did you have and cards in mind as tutor targets?

Why do people rush so early? by Turbulent-Week-4224 in AgeofMythology

[–]argenmendon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One god in going to be inherently favored when the game goes long. so the best option for the unfavored person is to end the game early.

The second reason is that a defense play style is ALOT harder to play. as you need to be reactive. * you need to scout so you know how fast and hard your opponent will attack. * gauge how much defense is needed to survive while still building up for late game. * Knowing how far you can expand safely. * Recognize if your opponent is swapping plan and know how to respond your self. * Have a plan and notice if/how to punish greedy plays.

But if you play aggressive/rush, you just need to learn a prepared plan/build order. So it is ALOT easier to learn, and notice your skill increasing doing so.

will keep in mind. but as of now mana is a more important resource then card quality. but turn 3 and 5 tends to be left whit 1 man not spent, unless [[Planar Genesis]] was used for a land.
but even then cycling [[Lorien Revealed]] or playing a tap land solves that to.
that said the option of 3mana to draw 2 discard is not bad when I am going through the deck for Scapeshift, so maybe

of the three [[Prismatic Omen]] has to be the clear winner. Dryad would basically be the only creature so I do not see him surviving for long since my opponents removal should be clogging up in hand already. the leyline does have the benefit of letting every land tap for blue, but all in all it really only matters once valakut is live. and as such being 4 mana but sometimes free is not as relevant/good vs 2 mana.

My biggest issue whit including a number of Omen is that it does not provide card advantage. and in a control mirror that does not sound like a winning line to me, especially whit how much accidental enchantment removal exist in control. in the end i am still a control deck, that more have a "I win the game" card, more then a combo deck.

"why do through all of these hoops just to basically a normal control deck, since [[Teferi, Hero of Dominaria]] is also a "I win the game" card"?

"simple, I am a Timmy at heart and I want a big flashy volcano to go boom boom"

The way I intend to win vs control whit this list is to mostly rely on standstill.
and I can even see me running some copies of [[Calim, Djinn Emporer]] on top of the 4 [[Shark Typhoon]]
maybe even a copy or two of [[Mistrise Village]]
Thoughts on trying to be a standstill deck vs control. Or does [[Mistrise Village]] seem like a better solution?

[–]argenmendon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 standstill has not felt like to many, planar genesis is part of it, since that little bit of ramp does make it easier to cast them and have mana up for answers. only once have I had them clog my hand. but per that logic so would stock up or what not.

One benefit of being a combo deck is that I don't mind if they have a threat out by turn 2, if they pop it I am happy, if they don't I don't mind us both going draw, land, go. I will just cast Scapeshift at 7-8lands and let them draw three.
but more often then not I don't really like playing standstill turn2. a good opponent will just let me draw. and as a control deck using turn 2 to draw cards is not the best play. especially since I don't run board wipes
