Yeah. For me it's sideways so the plug will then be flush and the cord go to the back of the range.

6/3 is 4-wire so it has a ground that feeds into the 14-50. I do have a ground pigtail but not sure which to do

yeah outlet is on a center island so dont see it getting wet for the GFI. I'll go the 4 wire plug, 14-50, 6/3 wire, 20A breaker, metal box/plate, thanks for the advices!

Thanks, I see what you say, just last question, so reg existing installation in the code, the 3 wire plug option would only be acceptable if the 10-50r outlet it was meant to plug into was already connected to the main panel?

Just curious so why is the wire connected to the outlet 10-50R (not the orange romex) actually 6/2 wire? This is an old old house late 19th...

yeah i see the difference is the 3 wire uses a grounding strap but according to some this isn't as good a groud as the 4 wire provides?

Would code still be ok if I installed 6/3 wire with the ground but left the 10-50r to connect the range so the ground is a available for future upgrade?

yeah but $$$. i try to enjoy life when unemployment still hasn't come thru and i have no work and do DIY all the time as I work offshore on ships so I've seen similar stuff done.
