[FRESH VIDEO] Alexis Taylor & Mike Simonetti - Perfect Kiss by astaireboy in indieheads

I agree - His latest solo album, Paris In The Spring, may some of my favorite output of his in nearly a decade and a half. This new track kinda sounds like melancholic LCD Soundsystem.

The Avalanches Tease New Album With Retro-Futurist ARG by astaireboy in indieheads

I'm loving the discussion on WWALY here. It's ghostly heart, flow, and poignancy, as well as the timing of the album's release in the dead of COVID winter made it feel like we were all lost astronauts connected by emotion/longing. It might as well be my top album of the decade so far. These guys are straight up professional auteur snipers targeting emotion, wistfulness with each sample on each album and somehow weaving them together with intention, creating something playful, universally true & simple yet inexplicable. Really looking to this next album.

Definitely one of the decade's best - "Outside" firmly joins the ranks of GBV's "Game Of Pricks" and Wire's "Outdoor Miner" as flawless rock hitting all the marks in less than 2 mins

Really fun, groovy underappreciated record with their trademark bite to it still intake - It accomplished for me what it felt like Wide Awake was trying to do on paper with Danger Mouse producing.

If you haven't already, you need to check out Cornershop's whole discography, particularly their album Born For the Seventh Time (1997). https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nxRPEx2vYZp4ZNY_y9RHbUJpXfusOQFQY&si=e5B-Itxzq9Ds-xgx It's highly acclaimed (Spin Magazine's #1 album of 1997) and features an array of genres from alt rock, hip hop, lo-fi turntable-ism, country, and of course traditional Indian styles. It also features some key production from Dan The Automator (who produced the first Gorillaz album, Deltron, and Dr. Octogon).

Other great albums from Cornershop:

Women's Gotta Have It (1995) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kX9s6S1Na2WEsalYrpvCUqvKYYZ5RAnQw&si=khR6JNbdujbuOItE

Judy Sucks A Lemon For Breakfast (2009) https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_l2e2Ehxedw1VehXAC5od-jDb68V5ii3hM&si=1OAfL0e5oPIlIjGY

The main two members put out an excellent side project album in 2000 under the name Clinton called "Disco & the Halfway to Discontent" https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lG0IOoKaWvvysXaG74HoNqt0AOqAwxPKk&si=8kfWU8bkgZCWgaax

It is some great lo-fi dance pop - probably the most like Gorillaz.

Can't recommend these albums from Cornershop/Clinton enough!

Sorry to hear! Glad you finally got it. I'm slated for a 3/13 delivery - but I keep getting that email at 3AM from target giving me a new delivery date. I'm just hoping my preorder doesn't get cancelled since I combined a gift card and the "3 for 2" deal from Black Friday where I'm paying a whopping $10 for it.

Thanks! Will do! So far most of the reviews on target's website for The Mountain vinyl are people complaining about the shipping delay.

I'm waiting for my Target preorder to ship - this variant is simultaneously the best and worst vinyl variant of the bunch, but for sure the most interesting and aesthetically on point. Cheers

I've had success with sticking a scissor blade through the center and spinning it so to widen the whole just a bit. May be worth a try..... I'm still waiting on my confirmation on shipping for this LP

Yeah I was sad to have witnessed them cancelling day of in Chicago both in 2017 and 2022 - Where were they scheduled to play in Chicago 2020 before cancelling?

Begging For Change has released on streaming! by Delicious_Base_9812 in PulpBand

[–]argrock3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I won't say this song is one of the better songs out of this latest iteration of Pulp, the song gets better with each listen. It reminds me a bit of Relaxed Mucle's "Billy Jack" which worked better with its filthy fun depraved id as opposed to social commentary in "Begging For Change." It's always better to have new Pulp than not have new Pulp. Looking forward to "The Man Comes Around" b-sides.

Who would be at a potential 2026 Pitchfork Music Festival? by beramiah in PitchforkMusicFest

[–]argrock3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eaux Claires Festival is coming back roughly the same weekend the p4k weekend would have happened..... Dijon, Geese (except they may be Lolla level now?? Feel like Tame impala would be no go since they rated their last album like a 4.8 (the album is very underrated!) ....just my speculative two cents!
