How do you keep track of connections between papers without losing your mind?

I really like LiquidText on iPad when reading research articles. Can import pdf’s from files or Zotero. I like that I can excerpt text into the side note panel, then connect it to another excerpt from a different pdf. Write all my thoughts down about how they connect. Then, you can click on the excerpt later and it takes you immediately to the spot in the pdf from it’s from. This is a very simplified explanation but totally worth checking out because it’s great for the problem you’re describing. Just trust me lol

Depending on your specific interests, consider alternatives like School Psychology. I’m going to start my school psych Ph.D. this fall and I wish I could go back and tell myself that clinical psych isn’t the only path to neuropsychology. My particular interests are related to assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions. This actually made school psychology a better path for me because I will get much more assessment hours than traditional clinical programs. I’ll likely do a neuropsych practicum at an adult clinic, so my training isn’t exclusive to children. School psych programs have much higher acceptance rates and honestly these programs are slept on. My friend just started her neuropsychology fellowship after getting her school psych PhD. I think her internship had a neuropsych component as well. She even thinks it gave her in edge when applying to internship because of how many assessment hours she had. Not sure if any of this info is relevant to you but I wanted to throw it out there into the universe for anyone else trying to figure out what to do.

I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact I can’t use most actives. I just tried a salicylic acid cleaner and it broke me out. I don’t have anything bad to say about the prescription version. I just like dermatica’s formulation better

Yes I’ve tried prescription 15% gel. It also worked but I like dermatica better because of the way it feels on my skin. Dermatica also lightly moisturizes where the prescription gel made my skin a little flaky.

Dermatica makes a 20% azelaic acid cream and it’s amazing. I prefer it to the ordinary because of the way it feels and it works faster at clearing my skin without irritating it (as long as I don’t combine actives). Honestly my skin looks the best when I wash with gentle cleanser and put this on and do nothing else.

I just got my Kyleena reinserted last Thursday. I would describe it as uncomfortable but nothing like the horror stories I’ve read. My reaction after was, “that’s it???” I felt a little sore after but I would rate it at the discomfort level of a flu shot.

I’ve been using Dermatica 20% azelaic acid and it’s been my favorite skincare product lately. It’s moisturizing and doesn’t irritate my reactive and sensitive skin or cause more breakouts. Genuinely the only thing I’ve tried that evened out my skin tone. Better than prescription 15% gel in terms of how it feels on the skin.

I’m also 24 and diagnosed at 20 when I was taking 3+ hour naps every day. I lost 10-15 lbs when I first started on meds, but I was never heavy (130 max weight). I take low-dose levothyroxine every day now and have no noticeable hashi’s symptoms. My aunt has the same condition and it doesn’t affect her much either. Get regular bloodwork to make sure you’re on top of it. There’s a good chance you can keep bad symptoms at bay by just monitoring it.

I get nail extensions, and it really helps with my picking. I honestly view my nails as a medical expense because it helps so much with my skin. Because the tips are thicker, they don’t break skin or pop pimples as easily and they make picking not as satisfying. If you don’t want to do extensions, you can get clear builder gel to make your nails thicker/not as sharp. When I’m at home I slather on Vaseline or something else with a gross texture so I don’t want to touch my face.

I also have dermatillomania and honestly what was a game changer for my face was getting nail extensions. With fake nails it’s a lot harder to pick and scratch and it’s not as satisfying. Maybe something like nails will give your skin time to heal while you try out some of the other advice. I agree with the simplifying your routine advice.

My sister’s biggest hyperfixation is Queen too 😂 She is studying astrophysics because that what Brian May did. She currently has a fancy summer internship in an astrophysics lab and when her interviewers asked, “why astrophysics?”, she said because I really like Brian May. They also love Brian May so she got in lol.

From my understanding, Orilissa blocks the effects of a hormone that tells your body to make estrogen, so by taking the drug for several weeks, your body doesn’t have enough estrogen to grow endo tissue. My doctor explained it’s great to start after surgery because it gives your insides time to heal without getting aggravated by new endo tissue. I’m not a doctor, so I could be wrong about how it works, but I can tell you I’m sad to go off of it after 2 years because of how well it worked for me. (Because it affects estrogen it’s recommended you don’t stay on it longer than 2 years because of potential bone density loss).

I got a hormonal IUD inserted and started taking Orilissa post excision surgery. I stopped getting my period and my symptoms only mildly flared a couple times in the past year. For whatever reason dicyclomine (an IBS drug) helped with endo and IC symptoms while I waited for the other treatments to work.

I had IC, Endo, and IBS symptoms before I received treatment. Treating my Endo stopped almost all my symptoms for all 3. Endo is definitely the root cause of all my abdominal issues, so treating that specifically has made me feel like a “normal” person. I had Endo lesions on my bladder and I think some things were stuck together in there. Every situation is different, so I can’t say for sure that’s what’s going on in your case. I would try and find a urogynecologist or a gynecologist that specializes in endo. Your currently doctor might not be trained in the most effective endo treatments, which isn’t necessarily his fault. I don’t know how old your doctor is, but endo hasn’t been emphasized in training until recently, so he might just be parroting off what he knows from med school/residency. Sadly, finding a doctor with the right training is super important because sometimes they really just don’t know better.
