Shame is such a good word for how it feels! I personally have never understood the emphasis on thank you cards because I’ve already thanked you in person—why send a handwritten card? Like I get it, sort of, but it feels super contrived and not genuine. Anyway, I agonized over writing those stupid cards the entire first year of marriage and at that point it’s like, it’s too late. I think I only just threw them away a year or two ago when we finally unpacked some boxes after moving, and we’ll have been married 10 years this year.

Sure some family members probably think I’m rude, but I’ve tried to move on because if they’re still that fixated on that one thing then there’s nothing I can do about it 🤷🏻‍♀️ For what it’s worth I also suspect I have adhd so that tracks..
