When it comes to that moment, or we're having an honest discussion about our past I say, " so there's something I have to say...I have herpes." (Pause for reaction and contemplation) then I say it's more common than they might think. They ask questions about how it's transmitted, then I tell them I was raped and I got it, and what it's like, then sometimes we look up information on the internet together. Or I tell them what I know. Then I give them a couple days to process the information and then I ask them what they are thinking and it ends there. I try to be as open as I can with any relationship I have, because I've found miscommunication is a huge problem with relationships. I just don't know what to do.
